Upcoming exhibition at The Sultan Gallery:

Beginning in 2005 Aziz + Cucher embarked on an exploration of how to expand their concept of art in order to create all encompassing environments where their dazzling imagery could be translated to a variety of surfaces and mediums. Aziz + Cucher offer now the possibility of not just ‘Living with Art” but of “Living inside Art”.

Aziz + Cucher have developed a highly visual language derived from patterns in the natural world , and with their constant interest in new developments in imaging and rendering technologies, are able to translate their vision to a multitude of materials that include limited edition photographic prints, hand-printed clay coated wallpaper, servo-digital routed and carved polymer panels, digitally printed glass and film for back- lit murals, hand –knotted carpets made of the finest silk and wool, and multi-channel video installations. Each one of these elements carry the distinctive style of Aziz + Cucher, and can be combined and customized in innumerable ways.

Its the time of year again when AUK hold their annual car boot sale in their parking lot. If you’re interested in selling items out of the trunk of your car, one parking space is for KD10 while two is for KD15. The car boot sale will be held on January 10th, 2009. [Link]

This looks like an interesting yet strange and cheesy B-rated wrestling event. I don’t recognize any of the wrestlers and I doubt many people will but they do seem more entertaining than the pro wrestlers on tv. Here is some info about the event:

GulfRun is starting off this week with the Carwash and Sticker at Al-Falah Carwash on Wednesday and the GulfRun Carshow (Marina Mall Crescent) on Thursday and Friday. Next week the cars head off the Bahrain International Circuit for GulfRun4.

GulfRun is going to be taking over Marina mall this weekend from Thursday at 5pm until Friday at 10pm, before they head to Bahrain International Circuit for the GulfRun4.

In addition to having the participating race cars on show; Title Sponsor Al-Fahad Travel and Tourism and Gold Sponsor Magic – Natural Energy Drink- will be having their booths present along several exhibitor booths at Marina crescent. I posted about Five60 back when they held the Charity Ghabga. The event above will contain many things including a display of furniture, photos, illustrations, food, clothes, and more.

Dalal & Dahlia are holding their 2nd annual furniture exhibit entitled ‘Delusions’ at the Al-Tilal Complex in Shuwaikh on Oct 12, 13, and 14. The exhibit is from 10AM to 1PM and then 5PM to 10PM. Their first exhibit was held at Villa Moda and completely sold out. The furniture is a mix between art and sculpture, and is designed and created by Kuwaitis in Kuwait. FIVE60 are holding a Charity Ghabga event that will take place on September 17th to help raise money for Kuwait Association for the Care of Children in Hospitals – KACCH.

A lot of food and beverages vendors will be participating in the event so not only will you be enjoying fabulous food and drinks but it will also be for a good cause!

Note: Ghabga for those of you who don’t know is a Kuwaiti word. Its the meal eaten during Ramadan between Futoor and Suhoor (futoor is when you break your fast, and suhoor is your last meal before sunrise in preparation for fasting the next day).

I just found out that on July 26th a drifting competition is going to be held in an underground parking lot of a mall in Lebanon. The event sounds really cool and some Lebanese rally champions are going to be judges at the event. Hopefully Red Bull is going to bring the same event to Kuwait since I know that a lot of guys here would love to participate in that. Here is a link to the facebook group. [Link]
