Baladiya Bans Hot Dogs
According to Z District, most of the popular American hot dog brands like Oscar Mayers and Ball Park Franks have been banned in Kuwait because they don’t have the Halal label on them. Sucks. [Link]
Inside the Middle East have now uploaded their report on Kuwait’s love affair with fastfood. You can check the report above or read the article on CNN [Here]
And it begins…
That’s the line at Cheesecake Factory.
Thanks Dr
Update: Here’s another shot from a different angle

Bäckerei Wolf
A reader emailed me telling me about a new German bakery that recently opened in the basement of Dar Al Awadi Complex in Sharq called Bäckerei Wolf. I googled it and it turned out to be a German franchise so I passed by this morning to pick up some breakfast before heading to work. There wasn’t a lot of things to choose from, they had four kinds of cakes, some biscuits, a few kinds of bread, some sandwiches and croissants. I ended up picking up a slice of Apple Pie and a chocolate croissant. The Apple Pie turned out to be so so with little flavor but I still ate it all like a fat cow. The chocolate croissant on the other hand was probably the best chocolate croissant I ever had since the chocolate filling was really delicious.
Their cheesecake looked interesting and I’d probably try that if I ever go back again. The pie cost me KD1.250 and the croissant KD0.750. Their phone number is 22322323 but I’ve been trying to call them for the past hour and no one is picking up.
Cheesecake Factory is going to be officially opening this coming Monday. I was there tonight for a tasting and I think the place is way nicer than the Dubai one. The location is really great and the place is open from three sides so the atmosphere should be really great. One thing I loved about Avenues Phase III is the lighting, I hope they keep it this dim and colorful once it opens (check picture above).
En Mexico
I think TJC Films has been releasing on average a video a week which is just crazy. This week he released a video of En Mexico, a small Mexican restaurant located in Jabriya which I posted about early in the year. Makes me hungry. You can watch the video above or on [YouTube]
Big Meets Bigger
The BBC show Big Meets Bigger came to Kuwait a couple of years back and when the episode was finally aired it was uploaded online to the BBC website but no one outside the UK could watch it. Today though someone uploaded the video onto YouTube and it’s now finally available for everyone to watch. The episode is divded into four parts, the first part is above and I’ve listed the rest below.
Big Meets Bigger – Kuwait 1
Big Meets Bigger – Kuwait 2
Big Meets Bigger – Kuwait 3
Big Meets Bigger – Kuwait 4
Burger Boutique Reopening Soon
A completely revamped and organic Burger Boutique is reopening again on October 15th. Burger Boutique used to be one of my favorite burger places before they closed down for an overhaul. They’re still going to be located on the second floor of Arraya Complex in Kuwait City. [Link]
Lorenzo Salmiya now open
Last night I was dropping some stuff to the dry cleaners in Al Khalid Complex in Salmiya when I noticed Lorenzo had opened there (near Fresh). The place was empty so I went in and asked them if I could take some photos and they were ok with that. They opened last month and the place looks pretty good for the size and location. The restaurant isn’t very big but there is semi private seating in the back which I Liked. (Pictured above)
If you don’t know where Al Khalid Complex is here is a link to it on Google Maps. It’s where My Toy used to be located back in the 80s. [Link]
BurgerFuel coming to Kuwait
BurgerFuel is a New Zealand based fastfood chain with branches already in UAE and Saudi Arabia. As part of their expansion they’re now planning to open a branch in Kuwait. [Link]
I admit, I’m really terrible when it comes to business in general so I don’t understand how more burger places are opening in Kuwait, a small market thats already over-saturated with burger places. Am I missing something? Is there really still room for more burger places?

Alshaya announced today that they’ll be bringing the franchise Katsuya by S+ARCK to Kuwait and the region. Unlike the other brands they’ve previous acquired this is probably the first one I haven’t heard of before. This is the description of what Katsuya is on their website:
