Cool, seems Beirut is the place to be although I don’t understand why with all the recent political crap going on.

Single-letter second-level domains are domain names in which the second-level domain consists of only one letter, such as x.org.
Such domains are rare, as on December 1, 1993, IANA explicitly reserved all single letter and single digit second-level domain names in the TLDs .com, .net, and .org.
However, the few such domains that were already assigned were not recalled, and so circumvented the restrictions that have existed since.

I just found the blog of Faisal Al-Dhalmawi at 1up.com. He has a very interesting write up on Video Gaming in Kuwait. He was even able to take pictures of some of the stores from the outside AND inside! Pretty cool stuff. [Link]

Whenever you ask anyone if they know of a pet shop they tell you there is one in Jabriya. Well it turns out the Jabriya pet shop is nothing but an urban legend. Tonight I went to Jabriya and drove into every street and every back road trying to find the pet shop. After around an hour I found one called Blue Bird, turned out it had closed ages ago (maybe even years ago) and nothing else. On a positive note I found out the location of Papa John’s Pizza in Jabriya.
TivoGuy was telling me that Aramex was closing down their Kuwait City branch and moving everything to Ardiyah. I quickly sent an email to Rabih who is always kind enough to answer my questions. Turns out its true, Aramex is shutting down the Kuwait City office, this is the email I received from him:
Dear valued customer,
Yes it is true we are moving our operations to Aardiyah since our main location is there and all our operations start from there. An email was sent to all our customers today morning. Another email in Arabic will also be sent by tomorrow.
Trust us that the move is for the best of all our customers: Delivery will be much faster and security and control on non-delivered packages will be much better. Most of all, Management will have more direct control on service level provided to our customers.
We will also open a new location for customer service and opening new accounts in Al-Bustan Mall in Salmiyah before year end inshallah.
Always at your service.
Personally I am going to find it a hassel to drive to Ardiyah everytime a package arrives but I guess I don’t have any other option.

Step 1: Go to the back entrance of the Keifan soccer stadium.
Step 2: Go to the ticket collector, tell him you want to refund your Brazil vs Kuwait tickets.
Step 3: He will take your phone number, civil ID number and the tickets from you. He will quickly fill out a brief form and then send you to the next window.
Step 4: Guy with black briefcase will give you your money back.
Thats the whole process. It should take you just 2 minutes.
This post is dedicated to Nat since she gets hiccups often. She tries to get rid of her hiccups by drinking a glass of water while holding her nose closed. Here is the right way to do it:
1. Swallow 1 tsp. white table sugar, dry. A study found that this stopped hiccups immediately in 19 out of 20 people. Repeat up to three more times at 2-minute intervals if necessary.
2. Gulp down a glass of water if the sugar doesn’t work.
3. Eat a piece of dry bread slowly.
4. Breathe in and out of a paper bag. Do not use a plastic bag under any circumstances, and don’t do this longer than 1 minute.
5. Gargle with water (see ‘How to Gargle’).
6. Repeat the above steps until your hiccups stop.

I hope they add a live webcam of Santa’s workshop, that would rock. [Link]
In case you haven’t heard, Jazeera Airways has an amazing offer, for the next 3 days you can purchase tickets to any of their 5 destinations for a price of KD5 (one way). I calculated a 2-way ticket to Lebanon including all the taxes and the total amount came to KD32 ($109) which is like wayyyy cheaper then anything else. It’s even cheaper then taking the bus or your own car. I tried to find the offer on their website but its not there, you can only see the price when you are trying to book. My friend recently travelled with them and he was very satisfied. [Link]
… in a drop test. According to this post the N91 passed the drop test 300 times while the iPod mini only survived the same test 12 times. Nokia rulez? I don’t think so. [Link]
Back in October I posted about a rumor that Jeremy Clarkson was in Kuwait. Around a week ago someone commeneted to that post saying that he was in Kuwait but just having a quick stay over before going to Iraq to do a story for an English paper. Seems thats true, I just found the article Behind Jeremy Lines where Clarkson goes to Iraq. [Link]
I was just talking to TivoGuy and asking him about his iPod Video since we got both ours yesterday. He told me it was great except the interference from the cell phone messed the ipod up. So I tried it myself, I made a call while holding my phone next to the iPod Video and the thing went crazy, the volume just kept going up and down quickly non-stop. I can’t believe this, now every time someone calls me on my cell phone my ipod is going to go crazy. Sucks.
Update: Here is a crappy video showing what I am talking about. Will shoot a better video in the evening with a better camera.
