Fight fire with fire? [Link]

Remember how last week I was hoping they weren’t going to ban LEGO from the market because its a Danish product? Well yesterday I past by Sultan Center and went upstairs to the LEGO section and guess what? All the shelves where the LEGO used to be are empty now! They banned LEGO!! The dairy section downstairs also had no more Danish products that includes Lurpak, Puck and Three Cows. Whats next? Will they start banning products from countries who supported the Danish like the French and Germans? Would that mean no more BMWs and Mercedes? That would be really silly.

I just realized something, with all this boycotting of Danish products in Kuwait and around the Arab world I hope they won’t end up taking LEGO off the market. That would suck big time so please leave LEGO alone.

A lot of cool TV shows ended this year. I just read on CNN now that Malcolm in the Middle and That 70’s Show will not be coming back next year. Sucks. [Link]

The State of Kuwait announces official mourning for 40 days and closing official districts for 3 days starting from today 15th January 2006.

I woke up today morning not wanting to get out of bed. It was nice and cold and I was really cozy. I forced myself to get up and wash up. While brushing my teeth Nat came and told me that the Emir of Kuwait had died. I quickly got online and checked CNN but didn’t find anything. I Checked Arab Times and they also hadn’t published anything. Finally I checked Safat and found that Jelly Belly had posted about his death.

A few minutes later articles started popping up on news.google.com and finally CNN.com. I wasn’t able to find out how he died but all the articles mention that he was very sick and old so I am guessing he died a natural death. He was 79. The government offices will be closed three days beginning today. I am currently at work but they will be sending us home soon.

I have known the Emir all my life and it is sad to see him go.

May he rest in peace.

Yesterday I read that Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey were selling their house for like 3.7 million dollars and didn’t think much of it but just now I read that Justin Berfield who plays Reese on the show Malcom in the Middle bought the house! I knew Frankie Muniz (Malcom) made a lot of money but Reese also?? [Link]

Today there was an article in Arab Times related to what I posted the other day on the fact that I heard expats will be limited to staying in Kuwait for only 6 years. The indoor ski slopes finally opened up in Dubai and looking at the pictures on their website makes me jealous that we don’t have anything similar here in Kuwait. Entrance price is only $35 and that includes clothes and equipment rental which I think is a pretty good deal. But, the place doesn’t look “that” big so I am curious to find out if its going to be over crowded the whole time or not. [Link]
