Two nights ago when Egypt won the African Cup in soccer, large convoys were driving around celebrating by honking and cheering. They were really annoying and kept going at it for 30 minutes around my area before they left somewhere else. If this happened at say 6PM I wouldn’t have had a problem (maybe) but they were honking like crazy at 11PM! So awhile ago I found out that the cops arrested a lot of Egyptians on the Gulf Road that night because while the whole country was mourning the passing of the late Amir they were driving around celebrating a soccer game. I am glad the cops arrested them, I was tempted to call the cops on them myself because they were causing such a disturbance but I didn’t know what number to call (777?) and I didn’t know what to say (people are honking please help me). Anyone else hear them?

Snow comes to deserts of Dubai
The indoor ski slopes finally opened up in Dubai and looking at the pictures on their website makes me jealous that we don’t have anything similar here in Kuwait. Entrance price is only $35 and that includes clothes and equipment rental which I think is a pretty good deal. But, the place doesn’t look “that” big so I am curious to find out if its going to be over crowded the whole time or not. [Link]
Ramp Rebels Tour 2005
I was at Eastpak yesterday night when I found a flyer for the Ramp Rebels Tour. They are in Kuwait for two days and will be performing at Marina Crescent. Today is the first day and the show starts at 2PM all the way till 5. Tomorrow (Friday) they will be performing at the same time and it will be their last day.
The Ramp Rebels Tour is a BMX and skateboarding show. The show features Ben Hennon (BMX), Ben Manuel (BMX), Julian Dykmans (skateboard) and Hugo Liard (Skateboard).
Soccer Commercials
Just found this website while looking for an old soccer commercial, it seems to have all of the popular soccer commercials I have ever seen and they are all downloadable for free. Very cool. [Link]
Step 1: Go to the back entrance of the Keifan soccer stadium.
Step 2: Go to the ticket collector, tell him you want to refund your Brazil vs Kuwait tickets.
Step 3: He will take your phone number, civil ID number and the tickets from you. He will quickly fill out a brief form and then send you to the next window.
Step 4: Guy with black briefcase will give you your money back.
Thats the whole process. It should take you just 2 minutes.
I have two tickets for the Brazil vs Kuwait game coming up on the 15th of November. The seats are located in the family section. I was planning on going to watch the game but I heard since no more tickets are available for sale that they are now selling for allot of cash on the black market. So if anyone wants two tickets or knows of anyone who wants them, leave a comment.
Here is a scan of the tickets:

Nat just scored us 2 free tickets to the Brazil Vs Kuwait soccer game next month. I’ve always wanted to watch Kuwait play soccer live and this will be my first time. I would have rather watched Kuwait vs Saudi but this will have to do.
NHL New Rules
The new NHL season just started after the cancellation of last years season. This time they are back with a new look and a new set of rules. To learn more about the new rules check this link. [Link]
Update: I just realized I haven’t watched Hockey since like 1994. Back then the Toronto Maple Leafs were my favorite team and they had Matt Sundin, Doug Gilmour, Felix Potvin and Dave Andreychuk. Now none of my favorite players are still with the Leafs, sucks.
I just found out Zed Al-Refai, the Kuwaiti who climbed Mt. Everest has a website. Check it out. [Link]
This can’t be happening, what will happen to the Reebok Pumps?? I hope Adidias doesn’t rebrand all of Reeboks sneakers to Adidias. I really love the Pump Fury’s, would hate it if they became Adidas Pump Furys… [Link]
Finally the NHL lockout has ended. After having the whole NHL season canceled, things are back on track. The biggest surprise to me were some of the new rule changes. Firstly no game will end in a draw now, if there is a draw the teams will go into a shootout until one team comes out the victor. Other changes include the goalkeepers gloves and pads which will shrink in size to make it harder for them to protect the net. For more details on the new rules and salary caps, hit the link. [Link]

Emblem of Beijing 2008
A couple of days ago I posted a link with the past logos of the Olympics, today I am posting about the Beijing 2008 logo, the upcoming Olympic games that will be held in China.
According to some sources, the following it the meaning behind the Beijing 2008 logo:
The official emblem of Beijing 2008 entitled “Chinese Seal-Dancing Beijing” cleverly combines the Chinese seal and the art of calligraphy with sporting features, transforming the elements into a human figure running forward and embracing triumph. The figure resembles the Chinese character “Jing”, which stands for the name of the host city and represents a particularly significant Chinese style. The artwork embodies four messages:
– Chinese culture,
– the color of red China
– Beijing welcomes friends from all over the world
– to challenge the extreme and achieve the perfect and promote the Olympic motto of “Citius, Altius, Fortius (Faster, Higher, Stronger).
I personally don’t like the logo because I prefer the one below. Its the one Beijing used when they were bidding for the Olympics. But according to officials, “to safeguard the interests of the Olympic sponsors, it had to have a new one.” I don’t know what that means but they basically had to create a new logo which is the one they are using now.
Here is more information on the new logo

The Past Olympics Logos
Here is a link to all the past Olympics logos. I think the 1972 Munich one is very trippy but my favorite is Mexico from 1968. [Link]
