When I first started chatting on IRC (like back in late 95) my nickname was RAVErrr. Nibaq’s nickname was XBS and I still remember the first time he helped me get on IRC, I think I was using the software WS_IRC.
So what was your nickname?
IRC Flashback
Its been a while since I last posted a review of a microwave meal and since Nats in Lebanon I figured this would be a good time to start again. Tonight for dinner I had the Chicken Fingers meal by Banquet and I really liked it.
I was at Sultan Center checking out the frozen foods section when I spotted this meal. What grabbed my attention was the fact it came with a fudge brownie! I thought that was fucking cool since I never tried a microwave meal that came with cake before. I grabbed two packs plus two packs of the Fried Chicken Meal and headed towards the cashier.
Cooking the Chicken Fingers was very easy, pop it into the microwave for two and a half minutes and its done. While cooking my kitchen started smelling of brownies.. which is a good thing of course since I love the smell of freshly baked brownies. When it was done cooking I took it out of the microwave and grabbed a coke and headed to the living room.
It fucking rocked. Keep in mind I am comparing it to other microwave meals and not some fancy gourmet dinner. The chicken fingers tasted pretty good and the fries wasn’t bad either but the biggest surprise was the brownie, it was eatable! I was having doubts about trying it once I was done cooking it because it just looked.. weird. But, I took the first bite and then had another after another. Its not the best brownie in the world but it tasted pretty good for something that came with a microwave meal.
Now the biggest problem I have with this meal is the portion, its tiny. Three chicken fingers and a spoonful of fries isn’t very filling. But I guess thats why its cheap, the meal costs only 850 fils which is a bargain compared to some other microwave meals. So, for the final score I will have to give it a 3.5 out of 5. If the portion was just a bit bigger it could have easily gotten four stars. Be sure to check out my other reviews in the review section.
Shopaholic Q8eya just posted a review of the Al-Corniche Club Spa. Seems she had a terrible experience starting with an obnoxious receptionist all the way to a smelly therapist. A very fun read. [Link]
update: she got a call-back from upper management [Link]

This a link to a video of David Hasselhoff’s song called Jump In My Car. What makes this video extremely weird is the car he is talking about and driving in the video is K.I.T.T! [Link]
Its nearly here
The iPod that I won from itoot just arrived to my US mailbox. Because it took them a while to send it they also sent a sleeve with it to make up for the delay.
Papa Johns Salmiya
They are opening a branch in Salmiya near the gas station on the Gulf Road near where ShowBiz used to be. This means they will finally start delivering in my area.
This brings back some memories. I was walking back from Baskin Robbins when the sirens started blasting. They must have installed a new system because it was fucking loud. Like so loud it sounds like its coming from everywhere, I felt like I was in a movie. I recorded a short clip with my phone you can watch it by clicking the link. [Video]
update: its 5:09pm and the sirens just came back on again..
update 2: turns out it was turned on by misake [Link]
2006 Emmy Nominations
The drama series has to be the toughest category with 24, Greys Anatomy AND The Sopranos facing off against each other. I would vote for Sopranos though. The comedy series catgory includes the cancelled Arrested Development show which means it will win since there is no other show funnier. Check out the full list of nominations by clicking the [Link]
Baggage Weight
This article I am linking to talks about the art of one carry on and gives tips on how to travel light. Its in response to Marzouqs British Airways post on how they recently decreased their baggage weight limit from 32KG down to 23KG. Jazeera Airways travellers have already mastered the technique of light travel since Jazeera allows only 20KG of baggage weight. [Link]
Just got my MacBook RAM today from Transintl. I now have a total of 2GB which is a huge leap over the 512MB that came with it. Everything is running way smoother and I can finally multitask!
For those of you who are still stuck with the 512MB stock RAM and are having issues with Photoshop may I suggest ChocoFlop. Its what I was using and it gets the job done when it comes to basic image related stuff. Plus it launches in like 2 seconds. [Link]
Seat Guru
I figured this is a good time to post this link since many people are travelling. Seat Guru is the ultimate source for airplane seating, in-flight amenities and airline information.
Say you are flying with KLM on their 747 jet and you reserved seat row 30A and want to know if you made the right decision. With Seat Guru you would know you didn’t since they have that seat marked as “Be aware”. On the other hand seat 35C is marked as a “Good seat”. Flying Lufthansa on their Airbus A340? Lucky you since you will have internet access plus if you are seated in either business or first class you get your own power port.
Very helpful info. [Link]

The sneakers Tara Reid is wearing in this picture is available at Lacoste in Salhiya Complex for KD45. They are called Intrigue.
Just got back from dropping off Nat at the airport. While there I saw the D&G Motorola V3i Razr. Looks pretty pimpin but costs a whopping KD160.
