I have been shopping around like crazy for a new car but nothing had turned me on. Actually, every car dealer I went into I found a car I wanted. I wanted everything, a Toyota Prado, a Nissan 350Z, a Infiniti G35, an Armada, a BMW Z4, even a Citroen C2 (only KD3,850!!). Every car I looked at I wanted, thats when I realized I didn’t really want a new car, I just wanted to change my car. Its hard to explain but somehow somewhere I put it in my head that I needed to get a new car, so the past two weeks of shopping I wasn’t really looking for “The Car”, I was looking for “Any Car”.

So realizing that I decided to think about which car do I “really” want, which car would be “The Car” for me. With that I came out with 2 cars, the new Range Rovers, and the Hummer H2 SUT. The problem is both cars are out of my budget with the cheapest Ranger Rover I saw was KD14,000 and the cheapest H2 SUT I saw was for KD13,000. So since I couldn’t afford any of these cars at the moment I decided to just stick with my car until I could. So as simple as that, my quest for a new car is over. Now I just need to break the news to the guy who is supposed to be buying my car this week…

Passed by the dealer to check out the new Lexus GS series. They didn’t have any on display neither in stock. The prices? The GS300 is for KD15,000 while the GS430 is KD17,000. Both cars have the exact same features except the GS430 is a V8 not six plus it has different rims.

A former Nazi graphic designer is suing Volkswagen, seeking credit for helping to design their famous logo. Nikolai Borg, 86, who now lives in Austria, says he has paperwork that can prove his involvement in the development of the VW logo 65 years ago. He doesn’t want any cash, says his lawyer—he just wants to live to see his work acknowledged. Volkswagen denies that Borg was involved in the design. I was checking to see if Jeremy Clarkson (the guy from the show Top Gear) had reviewed the Nissan 350z when I noticed he had recently reviewed the Murano. So, I decided to read his Murnao review since I couldn’t find a 350z one. I was a surprised to see he gave the Murano a full 5 star rating since the last car he gave a 5 to was the Aston Martin DB9. Now I am considering if I should get the Murano instead of the 350z. I know they are 2 totally different cars but I have been enjoying Nats Jeep lately and wouldn’t mind getting an SUV for myself also. It looks a bit like a chick car though no? [Link]

Autoblog just posted pictures of the new Porsche Cayman. The Cayman will have a 3.4-liter boxer engine which will deliver 295 horsepower and will be able to hit 0-100 in just 5.1 seconds. The Cayman will go on sale next January. Click here for more pictures.

Remember I posted about the Pope’s Golf being sold on ebay? Well it got sold for $243,000!

Nibaq posted today that he believes that people who turn on their hazard lights in poor visibility are idiots. I have to disagree with him regarding this comment because I believe hazard lights have numerous uses. Nibaq believes hazard lights should be used incase of emergency only but I believe it can be used in other non-emergency situations, for example:

During heavy rain
The blinking orange light adds more to your cars visibility during heavy rain which in return is safer for you.

During low visibility
During heavy fog or a heavy dust storm, the orange flasher allows your car to be more visable. When we used to go up the mountain in heavy fog in Lebanon, we used to turn off our cars high beams and turn on the flasher because the white light bounced back off the fog while the orange flasher cut through it. During the dust storm today I had my rear fog lights on while other people had their flashers on. Having your flasher on during low visibility does no mean you are an idiot, it means you are worried some idiot might not see your car and ram into it.

Emergency Braking
When you are driving on the highway you are used to people ahead of you braking every so often. But, when you have to brake suddenly, for example when traffic completely stops in front of you, the hazard light with your braking helps differentiate a normal brake from a very hard one.

I also believe Daylight savers should be standard here in Kuwait. Having a car light on during the day can help in preventing accidents.

Prince Naseem the boxing champ crashed his Mercedes SLR yesterday while trying to overtake a couple of cars on a tight road. He was later arrested at his home because he had fled after the accident. What interests me in this story is that Naseem was speeding in his car. I hate it when people buy fast cars and drive them slow so its cool that Naseem drives his car the way its supposed to be driven. But, as you can seen in the picture he totally smashed his KD170,000 SLR. Hmmm maybe he will get the Carrera GT next? [via]

Someone is selling a 1999 model VW Golf on ebay that belonged to the new pope Ratzinger. I had a 1996 Golf in the same color. Cool. [Link]

A friend of a friend just purchased a yellow Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII. It cost him KD10,500 from the local dealer. I personally don’t like it. It looks too normal. My favorite Lancer is the Evolution VI since that car looked aggressive. Also I wouldn’t have gotten it in yellow. I think yellow only looks nice on a car if its a Lambo or Ferrari.

I just found the coolest website, something I didn’t know existed in Kuwait. The site is actually a car talk forum but based in Kuwait. The members there discuss their latest car upgrades, or a recent car they spotted or which car they raced on what street. Its amazing stuff. Here are some examples of the topics they are discussing:

In St. Petersburg, Russia they are looking for ways to keep customers at the pump. Phaeton holding announced that it will develop 15 “luxury” gas stations to capture the higher end of the gas market. The new stations will have free internet, sushi bars and women in “flight-attendant style uniforms” to attend to the vehicles. The idea is that customers are willing to pay a higher price for better service and that the gas stations might become the new hot spots. [details]

Why don’t we have luxury gas stations here? Actually, why don’t we just have more normal ones! They are too few and too far apart here.

Just found a link with pictures of the new Jaguar XK, it looks reeeaaaallllly fucking cool! Like Aston Martin cool but at a more realistic price. Never liked Jaguars before but if this is the new XK then I might become a Jaguar fan. [Link]
