I was reading Edjamacated’s post on the discontinuation of the Vanilla Coke drinks. What grabbed my attention was that he mentioned that you would soon find boxes being sold on eBay. Well he is absolutely fucking right and to show you how right he is check this.

Back in 1992 Pepsi introduced a new Pepsi called Crystal and it was supposed to taste like regular Pepsi except it was colorless like 7up. Well it didn’t do very well and the product was discontinued a year later in 1993. Now if you go to eBay and do a search for Crystal Pepsi, 12 years after the product was discontinued, people are still selling bottles of it on eBay! Crazy shit. [Link]

My two favorites are Honey Smacks and Count Chocula.

Starting today I am on a new healthy diet.

– No McDonalds
– No Hardees, KFC, Texas Chicken, Burger King etc..
– No Softdrinks even the diet ones
– Subway is allowed (although after my last visit I won’t be going back)
– Gulf Royal Chinese is allowed but not 2 days in a row
– Will start eating more fruits. (I like melon, grapes (with no seeds), bananas and apples)
– Will start drinking chocolate milk every morning
– Anything from Kababji, Sajj House, Mughal Mahal, Great Steak & Potato is allowed
– No chocolate bars for breakfast or when bored at work. Chocolate bars will now be replaced with a handful of natural nuts (not fried)

I was going to try and be a vegeterian but I would end up starving to death since I don’t eat vegetables.

Update: Day 1 and I already broke rule #3, I had a pepsi for lunch. But I decided anyway that a bit of Pepsi is ok, it helps me digest…

Am I allowed to post about food before iftar? Its a slow day today and the only thing I could think of posting about is food.

Ok I have decided I am going to stop eating at Subway. Last month I mentioned how I had Subway and everything tasted different. Well it wasn’t a fluke! Yesterday for lunch I decided to have Subway, I ordered a 6-inch Meatballs and a 6-inch Italian BMT. I couldn’t finish my sandwiches because they tasted so bad! The lettuce tasted like rubber for example while the olives tasted really weird and overpowered everything else in the sandwich. I just couldn’t finish my sandwiches. I have coupons now for 3 free 6-inches and I won’t use them because the sandwiches were so bad I wouldn’t eat them even if I got them for free! What a disappointment.

Hey how come we don’t get cool stuff like this El Maco Grande in Kuwait? Seriously McDonalds in Kuwait should come up with new products because I am fed up of the McArabia crap. Now this topic made me hungry and McDonalds doesn’t open till 5:30PM!! [Link]

I haven’t reviewed a microwavable dish in a while but here is a good one. There is a local company called Livestock Transport & Trading Co. that have a line of frozen ready made meals that sell under the brand Jahez. Jahez have 24 different frozen meals in total but todays review is about the Chicken Masala meal.

Cooking the meal was very easy. You take out the tray from the box, punch a few holes in the plastic cover and then stick it in the microwave for 6 minutes. I have my own way of cooking the meals though. I place the tray in the microwave and let it cook for 3 minutes, then I open the microwave, take out the tray and peal open the plastic cover. Then using a fork I move all the food around and when I am done I close the cover again and shove it back into the microwave for another 4 minutes. I do this so that the food thoroughly cooks. I have had issues before with microwavable food where when eating, the food ends up being really hot in the center of the dish but cold nearer the outer edge.

Once the meal was done I took it out of the microwave and opened the plastic cover again. The smell was really appetizing and visually the dish looked very eatable. I took the tray and sat down in front of the TV and started eating. The Chicken Masala tasted pretty good, somewhere between a home cooked meal and the Mughal Mahal fast food restaurant. I finished the chicken and then took the sauce and poured it over the rice and continued eating. It was a pretty satisfying dinner and overall I think this might be one of the best frozen meals I have ever had. The best part of the meal is the price. Since its made in Kuwait its pretty cheap coming in at around 700fils depending where you buy it from. The Co-ops usually have a larger collection of Jahez meals and cheaper prices then Sultan so you can find it for as low as 670fils in some places. I guess its because I am hungry but just reading this review and seeing the picture of the amazing burger has made me also want to have a nice juicy hamburger for lunch. Both of the places that were reviewed are on my to do list the next time I visit New York. Now where will I have my lunch… [Link]

Update: I ended up having lunch at Fudds. I had the cheese burger with three kinds of cheese on it.. 1/2 pounder, well done.

A girl who just came back from Germany brought with her super cool mints called Monster Mints. I tried the red one which is Cinnamon flavored and fuck is it strong. It tastes like the red Chiclets packet except 100 times as powerful. Its so strong that its painful to keep on your tongue. Do they sell these in Kuwait? I haven’t seen them before but I will be requesting them from Sultan Center. [Link]

Had lunch at Subway Salmiya yesterday. It was very disappointing. I ordered the Subway Melt and the Italian BMT and both of them the ingredients they used looked a lot different then the usual. The two sandwiches also didn’t taste like usual. Hopefully this isn’t the begining of the end for Subway in Kuwait. I have seen this happen before in Lebanon, everything was going perfect then suddenly the owner in Lebanon decided to use local ingredients, suddenly everything started to taste drastically different and then later he was shutdown by Subway International.

On the bright side they are accepting Sub Club cards once again, this time they are using different colored and sized stickers.

Sultan got a new shipment of A&W Root Beer. I Was at Sultan Center Souk Sharq today and I noticed they had a lot of A&W Root Beer (not diet) cases and I just got a phonecall now from Sultan Centers “Just Ask” department asking me how many cases I wanted and that they would be put aside for me since I requested the product from them. Pretty cool.
