The Stallion commented in my previous Kuwait motor show post that Fouad Al-Ghanim will be bringing Spyker to Kuwait and they will have cars at the exhibition. I checked the Spyker website and it confirms that they WILL be at the exhibition so thats going to be pretty cool. [Link]

The world’s highest fountain
The world’s highest fountain is located in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and it blasts water 312 meters up in the air which is higher than the Eiffel Tower. There is a video of it in action and more pictures [Here]
Amazon Kindle
So Amazon just released the Kindle which according to them is what the iPod is to music, the Kindle is to books and magazines. It looks really ugly but the concept is really strong and I think has a lot of potential. You purchase books and subscribe to magazines and newspapers through the Kindle device and it all works wirelessly without the need of a computer or Internet connection. The problem is the device connects wirelessly using EV-DO which I know very little about and I doubt works here in Kuwait. You can check out the Amazon page for more information and better pictures. the truth
I was looking for something through my junk when I found one of my first websites. I did it back in 1998 when I was in my X-files phase. [Link]
Who has the oil?
Kuwait is fourth and Saudi Arabia is first. [Link]
Kuwait Towers gone blue
Since when have the Kuwait Towers been lit with blue flood lights? It looks pretty cool and slightly eerie.
Environment Friends Campaign
Earlier I posted about the paper bags at the Co-op’s, well the group behind it turned out to be CEC, a local environmentally friendly company. Seems they are running a one month campaign called Environment Friends Campaign which involves different activities including the paper bags at the Co-op’s. So sadly I am assuming that once this one month campaign is over the Co-op’s will be going back to plastic bags. [Link]
Thanks Drunk_n_Gorgeous
Greener Co-op’s
The local Co-op’s are now placing customers items in brown paper bags instead of the usual plastic. The paper bags are made from recyclable paper and are more environmentally friendly compared to the old plastic ones. This is a great move and one that I would have expected from other supermarkets like Sultan Center or Carrefour but not the Co-ops.

Where was this site when I needed it back in my Monopoly days during university. [Link]
Online stores in Dubai
Can anyone recommend an online store in Dubai where I could order electronics off? I don’t need them to ship it to Kuwait but to someone in Dubai as a gift.
Like The Home Depot in Kuwait
Someone just told me that Al-Sayer Al-Ghanim are launching a new store in Kuwait thats similar in concept to The Home Depot in the US. Supposedly its going to be called “Platform” and they will be launching some time mid this month. I think its about time someone is opening a decent home improvement place here in Kuwait, the only thing we have is Ace Hardware but it really doesn’t have a lot of things.
Rules of Engagement
I’ve recently gotten addicted to the TV show Rules of Engagement. They are in their second season now but I never thought it would be interesting, for some reason I used to read the name and think it was a TV show related to lawyers and the military. Probably because I keep thinking about the movie of the same name. Luckily by accident I downloaded and episode and after watching the first one I was hooked. The show stars three great actors, Megyn Price who plays the wife on Grounded for Life, David Spade which everyone knows from Just Shoot Me and finally my favorite actor from the bunch, Patrick Warburton who played David Puddy, Elaine’s boy friend on Seinfeld, Johnny Johnson on News Radio, The Tick on The Tick and the voice of Joe Swanson on Family Guy. A truly amazing actor and super funny in his own simple way. For more information you can check out the IMDB page. [Link]
Wanayt
A friend of mine was telling me that the word “wanayt” meaning pickup in local slang was actually based on an old pickup truck model number 1 8. He wasn’t sure if the engine size was 1.8 or why they used to call that truck 1 8 but the interesting part is how 1 8 became wanayt.
Nissan Figaro
While in London I kept spotting this really cool retro looking car. At first I thought it was a classic British car but when I found a parked one and was able to get closer it turned out to be a Nissan Figaro. When I got back to the hotel room I did a quick google search and it turned out the Figaro’s were produced in the early 90’s and have a small cult following. I am not usually a fan of retro looking cars but I can’t help but not love this one, it just looks really funky. I found a place online that sells excellent condition versions for prices ranging from 3000 to 4000 Kuwaiti Dinars. [Link]
Orange Taxi’s
I just found an article by mistake on the Kuwait Times website on the demise of the orange taxi’s. Although I’ve never used them before I’ve always been intrigued by them. According to the article though they might not be around for much longer, with no help from the government and a lot more competition, the orange taxi’s are quickly losing ground to buses and jawal taxis.
