So far in 7 days I have made $20.32 via the Google Adsense program. It doesn’t sound much but at this rate I should be able to make over $1000 a year if my websites don’t get more popular. I have placed the google ads on 248AM.com and Miskan.com but I receive the bulk of visitors on my other older sites. I am thinking of expanding even and placing ads on more of my sites. After lunch when I came back to the office I saw a police car blocking the road to JW Marriott Hotel. Fadibou just told me its because there was a bomb threat, and they evacuated the building. Employees were also advised not to go back to work tomorrow.

A few days ago I was at McDonalds and I ordered the Fillet-O-Fish combo with a Quarter Pounder Sandwich. which was supposed to come up to a total of KD1.650 according to the “McDonalds Pricing Bug“. But suddenly the McDonalds chick was asking for KD1.850! I thought I must have miscalculated and had my lunch.

Yesterday night I passed by McDonalds and I asked the manager if they had increased the prices. He told me they had, by 50fils. Thats not 100% accurate though. Some of the value meals like the Fillet-O-Fish combo and the Double Cheese Burger combo were priced at a super value price of KD1. Now they are priced at KD1.150 which is a 150fils more expensive! The breakfast menu seems to be intact and unchanged, the 100fils ice cream cone is still 100fils also. When I asked the manager why the prices had increased, he told me that its due to the increase in the price of the goods. So now Starbucks and Mcdonalds have increased their prices, whos next? I heard Chilis also increased their prices.

According to an email from Moe, the movie House of Wax was removed from all theaters in Kuwait by KNCC due to heavy pressure from the Ministry of Information. I have no clue why they would do this since the movie was already heavily cut, maybe Paris HIlton is just banned in Kuwait.

If you are a runner/biker/etc.. and want to know the distance you ran/biked/etc.. you can now use this handy tool called Gmaps Pedometer. You zoom in to the area where you ran/bikes/etc.. and then you can mark you route and it will tell you the ditance you rant. Here is the link [Link]

When you find the location you ran/biked/etc.. click on Start Recording then double click your starting point on the map and then just keep double clicking on the route you took, it will draw lines for you and measure your distance.

In 1976 the government established the Reserve Fund for Future Generations, into which it placed an initial US$7 billion. It resolved to invest 10 percent of its revenues annually in the reserve fund. Money from the fund, along with other government revenues, was invested in overseas property and industry. In the 1970s, most of these funds were invested in the United States and in Western Europe: in German firms (such as Hoechst and DaimlerBenz , in each of which Kuwait owned 25 percent), in property, and in most of the United States Fortune Five Hundred firms. In the 1980s, Kuwait began diversifying its overseas investments, placing more investments in Japanese firms. By the late 1980s, Kuwait was earning more from these overseas investments than it was from the direct sale of oil: in 1987 foreign investments generated US$6.3 billion, oil US$5.4 billion. The Financial Times of London estimated Kuwait’s overseas investments in early 1990 at more than US$100 billion, most of it in the Reserve Fund for Future Generations.

The Iraqi invasion proved the importance of these investment revenues. With oil revenues suspended, the government and population in exile relied exclusively on investment revenues, including sales of investments for sustenance, for their share of ongoing coalition expenses and for postwar reconstruction and repair of the vital oil industry. While these funds were depleted to $40-$50 billion after the war, they currently are estimated around $80 billion.
