Q8Sultana posted about a Mirror House located in Qadsiya a few years back and now the owner has a website up with a ton of pictures and information on the house.
The house belongs to Lidia Qattan, an Italian lady who got married to a Kuwaiti (Pioneer artist/painter, Khalifa Al-Qattan), and has been living in Kuwait for decades. She has decorated her entire house, inside and outside, with pieces of mirrors. – Q8Sultana
Lidia’s website has pictures of every room and every angle of the house from the outside and inside. You can tell she put a lot of effort into fulfilling her dream of a “Mirror House” and it’s really one of a kind. Check out her website for more pictures and details. [Link]
Construction of the longest bridge in the world is going to start next year. The “Friendship Causeway” will link Qatar and Bahrain together and once completed should take people 30 minutes to drive from one side to the other. Now if only someone would build a Kuwait – London “Shopping Causeway”, that would be a cool bridge. [Link]
Today is the final day of the giveaways. This giveaway campaign was not planned and I actually thought about it right after the post where I gave two tickets away to the IMAX film. I saw the response from just two tickets and thought to myself what about if I could give people cooler stuff and so I quickly scrambled emailing and calling people to see if they would be interested to participate. Choowy Goowy responded right away saying they would and that’s how I managed to get “Giveaway Day 2” out the door the next day.
Since that original post the response has been unbelievable and the campaign completely exceeded my expectations. The response from companies wanting to participate was also incredible and I ended up doubling the length of the campaign because of it. I actually still have enough giveaway offers to make this campaign last a month but two weeks is the limit I set and I decided to stick it.
The final giveaway is going to be from Choowy Goowy and its the just recently released Sony PS3 Slim. Someone had left a comment in the original Choowy Goowy giveaway post asking if we were going to give away a PS3 next, well here it is!

I haven’t posted about Hüper Optik before because I have yet to pass by and get my car tinted. I should have gone at the beginning of summer but I kept putting it off due to the fact I can be really lazy (and cheap) sometimes. The reason I wanted to tint the car is because Nat doesn’t have any shaded parking where she works so the car sits baking under the sun all day long. So Marzouq recommended I get a tint from Hüper Optik because they offer the best heat protection around.
Unlike most tints in Kuwait, Hüper Optik’s are ceramic based not metallic. I learned that it has a few advantages one being that it doesn’t interfere with mobile phones, bluetooth and GPS and the other is the fact that ceramic based film offers better heat rejection. Ceramic is an insulator while metals are great conductors of heat so ceramic based film makes a lot more sense here in Kuwait.
Here are the specs they emailed me:
100% dye and metal free
Does not interfere with mobile phones, GPS, bluetooth.
High Infra Red heat rejection of up to 96%
High Ultra Violet rejection exceeding 99%
Total Heat Rejection from 32% to 73%
Visible Light Transmission from 8% to 85%
10-year product warranty coverage
So this brings us to today’s giveaway. Hüper Optik are offering a free car tint to the winner worth up to KD250 which makes it the most expensive giveaway so far. In case you are wondering, you don’t need to darken your car windows to take advantage of the heat or UV protection. You can go for a clear film and still have some protection. All you need to do to win this giveaway is to leave a comment below and later on in the evening I will use random.org to select a winner.
Check out Marzouqs review of Hüper Optik [Here]
And here is their contact information which includes their website where you can find a map to their place.

Last week I posted about the under appreciated indoor vertical garden at 360 mall. Under appreciated because no one knew about it. Well I was checking a website (lost the link) and found an article talking about this glass artist and they had a picture of one of his works which looked similar to the blue glass sculpture at 360. So a quick google revealed the blue sculpture at 360 was actually done by the same artist in the article.
The artist is called Dale Chihuly and he was commissioned to do two pieces of work for 360 in the theme of the sun and moon. Again interesting but I only found out about it by chance. 360 need to find a way to inform people on this stuff.
Now the cool part is I found a gallery online showing the actual build process. I was always curious on how they put the sculpture together and now I know. Check out the pictures [Here]
Note: If you get an error trying to view the pictures tell me and I will try to host the pictures somewhere else.
Don’t know the difference between mini burger and a slider or a steakhouse burger from a pub burger? Serious Eats has put together a guide to help you out. I think I am going to BBQ some burgers tomorrow. [Link]
Today’s giveaway is courtesy of Zain and they’re giving away a Zain e-GO2GO device with credit. The e-GO2GO is different from the regular e-GO because you don’t need to have a contract and you don’t pay on a monthly basis. The e-GO2GO is a prepaid mobile internet connection that is useful for people who require internet for a short term basis.
For example, lets say you have a DSL connection at home but on the weekend you go to the chalet and need internet over there. Instead of subscribing to a monthly connection at your chalet you can just take the e-GO2GO with you and pay for your weekend use. You just charge the e-GO2GO with regular eeZee cards or from their website and you keep the credits until you need them.
One day of internet is for KD1.5 while three days is for KD3.
All you need to do to win the Zain e-GO2GO with credit included is to leave a comment below and later on in the evening I will use random.org to select a winner.
For more information on the Zain e-GO2GO visit the Zain website [Link]

The local Porsche dealership has put up the Panamera prices. The cheapest is the Panamera S with a starting price of KD35,400 while the most expensive is the Panamera Turbo with a starting price of KD50,100. I like the Porsche Kuwait website, more local car dealers should put their prices online. Actually scrap that, most local car dealers need a proper website first. [Link]

I was reading an article in WIRED magazine about Patrick Blanc and his famous vertical wall gardens when I read the following:
Forty-five years on, the French botanist’s gardens have grown massive in scale. One inside a Portuguese shopping mall is larger than four tennis courts, and there’s one in Kuwait that’s almost as big. [Source]
So I did a bit of googling and found this article from January of this year that says:
360 MALL announced the latest addition to its unique retail offer, with the creation of the world’s largest indoor living wall. This innovative vertical garden marks a new eco-friendly element to the 360 Mall on offer…
…Patric Blanc, a botanist and the inventor of the Vertical Garden said: “This vertical garden is set to become a must-see destination for people in Kuwait and beyond. It is something people will want to see and experience for themselves. [Source]
I’ve been to 360 Mall a few times and never noticed the vertical garden so I checked for some images of the mall online and found the picture above on Ansam’s blog showing the vertical garden. I don’t think a lot of people have noticed it before, maybe they should add a plaque or something in front of it. It’s interesting.
