Simpsons House Made a Reality

simpsons home

Some hardcore Simpsons fan in Australia actually went and built the Simpsons home from the cartoon. The interior is like a duplicate from the show with the same furniture and paintings on the wall. I wouldn’t live in the house but it does look pretty cool. Now if only someone would build Moe’s Bar.. here in Kuwait. More pics after the jump. [Link]

Jolie the Great

Was just checking out some hi-res shots of Angelina Jolie on idontlikeyouinthatway.com when I noticed a tattoo on her right arm. Its arabic and I believe it says “al-3azeemah” meaning the great one. This just made me dislike her more then I used to. [Link]

Motel Signs

motel signs

A nice collection of Motel Signs from various parts of the US. I always wanted to stay at a Motel for some reason but I never got the chance, I guess since you see it so much in the movies and we really don’t have any similar places in Kuwait it becomes like something you can’t have which makes you want it more. Miskan Plane

Meskan

I received the following email from jetblast2k:

Hi Mark, we usually know our aircrafts by their tail number, but today I noticed the nickname of 9K-ANC, an A340-300 of KAC, and took this shot for you. Check the [Link]

I was surprised to find out that Kuwait Airways planes had nicknames and I was really surprised to find out that one is called Miskan (although they spell it Meskan). Next time I fly with KA I will try to find out the nickname of the plane I am going to be flying with. If you have never seen the pictures taken by jetblast2k you should since he has some really wonderful stuff. [Link]

Note:
For those of you who don’t know, Miskan is a photography project I currently involved in. [Link]

Revolution Controller is Revolutionary

revolution controller

The design of the Nintendo Revolution controller was finally made public today. Its incredibly creative and definitely kicks both Microsoft and Sonys ass in the controller department.. especially Sony who have their weird looking boomerang controller. The Revolution controller comes in two parts (one is pictured above) and has motion sensors so it can detect if you are holding the controller sideways or which direction you are turning it. This can be used in games so for example if you are playing Star Wars you can swing the controller around and your character on the screen will swing his Light Saber the same way you are. So now the Nintendo Revolution has 2 things going for it, you can play old Nintendo games on the system plus it has an incredibly smart controller. [Link]

Update: Check out this link for a lot more better pictures of the controller [Link]

Old Marriott Hotel

Marriott Hotel Kuwait

Found this picture I took back in 91 of the old Marriott hotel which was burnt by the Iraqis. I have more pictures of other buildings that were destroyed but I cant seem to find them anywhere. Anyway click here if you want to view the above picture in hi-res.

A few months ago I was able to gather a whole bunch of pictures from after the invasion which I found online and uploaded to a flickr account. If you want to see those click here.

Kuwait in Wallpaper*

wallpaper

Just checked out this months issue of Wallpaper* magazine and turns out Kuwait is in it. Here is the summary of Septembers issue featuring Kuwait:

Navigating six of the world’s most exciting cities, moving and sheikh-ing in hip Kuwait, snooping around Rupert Murdoch’s Mayfair pad, living like royalty in a Bavarian castle, gazing at Tel Aviv’s latest design stars, dressing up Dubai-style, cutting a dash in sharp tailoring, admiring the new talent from the ICFF and much more

The magazine features Sheikh Majed Al-Sabah (Villa Moda), Sheikha Hussah Al-Sabah (Dar al-Athar al-Islamiyyah), Emad al-Samhan (Grass Exhibition), Rola Dashti (Women’s rights movement) and Maha al-Ghunaim (Global Investment House). I like how Wallpaper called Kuwait “hip”, puts things in a different perspective.

The Ring 2 DVD Campaign

This is the freakiest idea ever. To help promote the The Ring 2 DVD, a new website was created called 7daysleft.

Visitors to the DVD launch site www.7daysleft.com are invited to scare their friends by entering their email address and mobile telephone number. The site then sends an email to the visitors friend, inviting them to click on a link, and watch the video. As they’re watching it, their mobile phone rings, and a voice whispers “Seven days” down the phone. The viewer is then given the option to send the viral to five of their friends.
