I just downloaded FireFox 1.5 (Beta 1) and first thing I noticed is that none of my extentions are compatible with it. Other then that FireFox still visually looks the same. I was expecting the icons maybe to be updated or something. The Prefrences control panel has changed, it now works like most other Mac apps. The browser seems a bit faster in loading up websites and actually FireFox 1.5 as a whole seems lighter and quicker. Sadly I will have to install the older version of FireFox again because I need my extensions. Here is the link to the FireFox 1.5 Beta 1 Start Page. [Link]

Is anybody elses Qualitynet connection acting up tonight or is it just me?
Update: Strange problem. My brother who lives next door and uses my network is the cause of the problem. He has a friend sleeping over who has a laptop with a wifi connection. My brother connects to the local network with ethernet using his laptop. He was trying to share the local network connection with his friend using wifi. Everytime my brother shares the connection off his Mac it brings down the whole network. Weird. I tried it the other day and it worked fine, connection comes into his mac via cable and he shares it out via wifi, don’t know what could be wrong.
Was just talking with Nibaq now and he pointed me to an article on NY Times about how Google is the new Microsoft. Well its true, Google IS the new Microsoft and we all hate Microsoft. So, Nibaq came up with the idea of using Yahoo! instead of Google. Sounds simple but when you have been using Google daily for like forever its not easy to swap to Yahoo! overnight. So we decided to have a “Try Yahoo! Week”. Starting Saturday the 27th all the way to Friday the 2nd we will only use Yahoo! for our searches. I already added the Yahoo! engine to FireFox and will start practicing this weekend. Everyone is free to join this activity.
Hello 2.0
Finally installed the PSP 2.0 firmware update and I can now browse the internet from my PSP. Cool shit.
Update: So far first impressions of the browser is thats its pretty cool, perfect for checking up on sites from bed before I go to sleep or at the airport while I wait to pick someone up. I haven’t any problems browsing except for 2 websites. 2:48AM’s sidebar didn’t show up on the PSP and Idontlikeyouinthatway.com gave me an out of memory error. Other then that everything worked like a charm. To make my life easier I also create a homepage for the PSP which includes links to all the sites I visit, this way I don’t have to type each one out manually.
Google Account & Gmail
A few days ago I noticed that every time I copy pasted a url from my Google search results it added some new google gibrish to the url. So I did a bit of research on this and it turns out google has a new option where it tracks your searches for you. To disable this you need to go to google.com and on the top right hand corner click on Search History and then on Pause. [Link]
Finally, there is a new option in Gmail where you can change your “From:” email address. Click on Settings then Accounts.
Google Talk
Have you google talked yet? I have to say I think this is the worst idea from Google. I personally don’t think they can penetrate the MSN and Yahoo communities. [Link]
WordPress
WordPress is launching a commercial hosted service similar to TypePad. You can only be invited to the service at the moment so go and give them your email address so they can send you an invite. [Link]

I found this via BoingBoing, the software is called DTV and I downloaded it and tried it and basically its like Pod Casts except with video. Currently its only available for Macs but PC version coming out soon. [Link]
YouTube
YouTube.com is a service like Flickr except instead of people sharing pictures they share short videos. I personally don’t have any movies I want to share with people but it is interesting to watch other peoples videos. For example I just watched one guy do a pretty good Napoleon Dynamite impersonation and now I am going to look for some amatuer porn videos. [Link]
