I spotted the flying boat yesterday down in Bnaider but had no idea they were planning on skydiving with it. Jumping out of a flying boat at 3,500 feet sounds absurd but they did it. Watch the video below.

Sultan Center are now selling heart-shaped watermelons for a ridiculous price of KD99 each. According to Sultan, only 120 pieces of these heart shaped watermelons exist and 40 were sent to Russia, 40 to Japan and 40 made it to Kuwait. I have no idea who would pay KD99 for a watermelon but they seem to think there are 40 people in Kuwait who would.

Someone in Kuwait purchased the new BMW i8 based on the video below which was shot at the Kuwait Airport. By far one of the most exciting looking BMWs in a very long time.

One my readers has a strange dilemma which I thought would be interesting to share:

My neighbor in Jabriya has a lioness in his yard and it isn’t chained up or anything. The wall between our houses isn’t high enough and I have a young child who likes to play outside in out yard. We called the police and they didn’t know what to do and told us to go to the police station, so we went to the police station and no one there knew what to do either! We were told to come back in the moring to see someone with a higher rank who “might” know what the law says about this! What a joke!! So they will only do something when this lion attacks someone? Why wait untill someone is hurt or killed to do their job?!?! My question is, is there someone or some place I can contact about this wild animal next door ?!

Somebody recommended he contact K’S PATH but I’m not sure they can do anything about it. Anyone have any other ideas?

I got the image above via whatsapp yesterday but I dismissed it as a fake, something someone might have created to go viral but according to Arab Times its actually true. People who use the emergency lanes during traffic will now be detained at the police station for up to 48 hours and also have their cars impounded for three months. I really hope this law actually gets enforced. [Link]

Husain Ismail whom I’ve previously posted about when I shared his video of his drone flying higher than the Liberation Tower (pictured above) was recently interviewed on KTV about his hobby. In the interview Husain goes into details about how he started and how he’s modified his drone to fly over a kilometer in height. Yesterday the Central Bank of Kuwait introduced the new banknotes at a press event and now the presentation that was shared at that event is available online for everyone to watch. The presentation is in Arabic and talks about the reasons why the new banknotes were introduced, the images that were chosen for each banknote and the new security features amongst other things. The new banknotes will be officially launched next month on June 29th. Check out the full presentation below.

The Skydiving event which was set to take place next week has now been pushed back till June. The new dates are June 16 to the 23rd so if you haven’t signed up there is still time. Also if you have no clue what I’m talking about then check this [Link]

According to an invitation I received, Wataniya will launch the Ooredoo brand tomorrow night at a press event. They’ve already started rebranding their stores in preparation and I expect everyones phones display will start showing Ooredoo starting Thursday morning.

Ooredoo is a brand name that was introduced last year to replace the former name Qtel which is the Qatari telecom that owns Wataniya. Ooredoo currently has 95 million subscribers and they will grow overnight to 97 once Wataniya rebrands.

A few hours ago the Central Bank of Kuwait revealed the new design of the Kuwaiti currency and a few moments ago I obtained the official images of the currency. The new Kuwaiti Dinars were designed by the famous De La Rue company in the UK. They’ve been around since 1821 and they sell high-security paper and printing technology for over 150 national currencies around the world. The new notes have plastic polymer in them making them difficult to tear as well as making them a lot more durable for day to day use.

I love the new designs and can’t wait till they go into circulation in the next couple of months. My only criticism is the lack of a KD50 note, KD20 just isn’t large enough today. Check out all the notes below.

To coincide with the World Cup, KDD have released a football game on iPhone and Android phones called KDD Penalty. I downloaded the game and tried it out and honestly, I found it buggy and boring. I have no idea why they would release this game, there isn’t anything in it even to connect it to the brand other than the KDD logo plastered here and there. If you want to download it click [Here]

Although I love flying with Qatar Airways the biggest issue I had with them was their airport. That looks to change now with the opening of their new Hamad International Airport. Check out some photos [Here] and [Here]
