According to Blushberry the BlackBerry with the PIN 55555555 got sold for KD9,000 and it’s not even the new BlackBerry its the old one! [Link]

Car park for women

Post by Mark

I just heard about this on the radio and just found an article about it online. A shopping mall in China built a parking lot just for women. Some of the features include parking spots that are 1 meter wider than usual, more lights so they can see better, bright purple and pink colored walls and more. According to the shopping mall, the parking lot caters to women’s “strong sense of colour and different sense of distance”. [Link]

Difference sense of distance… I like that.

I’m Back

Post by Mark

I just got back to Kuwait this morning, was out for a total of 10 days. I thought the weather in Lebanon was hot but it turns out its even hotter here. I am really glad to be back on a high speed internet connection again, I was on a 256kb connection back in Lebanon that was just slightly faster than dial up and had a download limit of just 6GB. My iPhone here in Kuwait has a much faster connection speed and a much higher download limit so I don’t understand how people in Lebanon are still living with their crappy connection.

Speaking of broadband connection, I read an article the other day about how in the UK by 2012, 40% of the population will have access to 100Mbps connections. And here I am happy to be back on a 2Mbps line…

Aramex new working hours

Post by Mark

The Aramex Ardiya branch has new working hours. Starting today, the Ardiya branch is now open from 8:30AM to 9PM from Saturday to Thursday and Friday from 12PM to 6PM. I am guessing this is in reponse to DHL EasyShop who’s Ardiya branch is open daily till midnight except for Friday when they close at 9PM. I hope this is a sign that Aramex is going to try and improve so that they can compete with other mail forwarding services. I just hope packages go back to taking a few days to arrive to Kuwait and into my hands instead of the 10 days its taking now.

The World’s Friendliest Countries

Post by Mark

According to a survey held by HSBC, Bahrain turned out to be the friendliest country in the world. Couldn’t find Kuwait on the list not even after I downloaded the full report from the HSBC website. That’s probably because there is no HSBC in Kuwait. Here is the top 10 friendliest countries:

1. Bahrain
2. Canada
3. Australia
4. Thailand
5. Malaysia
6. South Africa
7. Hong Kong
8. Singapore
9. Spain
10. United States

Chill and get stoned energy drink

Post by Mark

This has to be the strangest energy drink I have seen. There is a picture of a marijuana leaf on the can, the drink is called Chillo and yet its marketed as an energy drink. Whoever came up with the name and logo either has never gotten stoned before or actually were stoned when they came up with it.

iHijab

Post by Mark

I downloaded this iPhone application today called iHijab and found it really funny. Its a simple app that will add different types of hijab or even a gutra to a face. So basically what you do is choose the type of hijab or gutra you want and then you take a picture of your friend or yourself and presto, you’ve got yourself a preview of how you would look like in different types of headgear. Turns out I don’t look too bad in a gutra. It’s a free app which you can download by clicking [Here]

Sherlock Holmes

Post by Mark

Well tonight I was supposed to post a review of the movie Sherlock Holmes since I went to see it but due to an unforeseen event I had to leave the theater before the movie finished. I had watched around an hour or more of the movie before I left and it was scoring a 3.5 out of 5 with me. There wasn’t much going on and when there was it wasn’t anything as exciting as in the trailers. But, Nat who stayed and watched the movie till the end told me it actually picked up and got a lot more exciting after I left. So I guess I have to finish watching it some other time…
