When I came in this morning from London I noticed they installed hand scanners at each of the the passport stamping stations here at the Kuwait Airport. They weren’t there last week when I came in so they must have installed them this week. I wonder what they are for…
Hand Scanner at Kuwait Airport
After finishing work today I decided to walk along the river past the London Eye. I actually thought I was walking back to the hotel but only after around an hour walk did I realize I was actually heading the wrong way. As I was about to turn back I noticed an interesting looking bridge in the distance. Turned out it was the Millennium Bridge which I had seen in pictures before. Its a pedestrian bridge that stretches out across the River Thames and it looks really futuristic because of its low profile. I took the picture above before I got on the bridge and the one below from the bridge.
Here are links to better pictures I found on Flickr.

Commercial: Mail on Sunday
Just watched this commercial at the movies and thought it was pretty cool. Its a YouTube video so quality isn’t that good. [YouTube]
Just checked into my room awhile ago. The subway ride was pretty long but comfortable and interesting. My room faces Oxford Street which is pretty cool.
Landed in London
My plane landed awhile ago in London and I am now on the subway headed to my hotel. A cab would have cost me around KD30, subway is just KD2 and there is no traffic. (Posted from my Nokia E61i)
Fahaheel Expressway Collapsed?
Someone in the forum just posted the following:
just heard the 30 (Fahaheel expressway) has ‘collasped/sunk’ at the 209/210 exit………….just a rumour or any details????
Can anyone confirm this? If you have pictures or video just send them to [email protected]
Out… again
I’m leaving to London early morning tomorrow and coming back Saturday. Most of my posts the next couple of days will probably be from my phone since I am not sure yet if I am going to be taking my laptop.
I found this online store last night called Supermarket and since then I’ve found a lot of interesting stuff there. Supermarket sells “great designs straight from the designers” so everything on their site ranging from scarves to coasters just look extremely trendy. The prices aren’t too bad either. [Link]
A friend just told me that Trader Vic’s is opening on the Gulf Road right after Kuwait Towers and Ruby Tuesday. There are 3 small buildings that were just built on the sea side and one of them supposedly is Trader Vic’s. Will try and double check this myself tomorrow.
Update: I can now confirm that Trader Vic’s is in fact opening on the Gulf Road near Ruby Tuesday in front of Mais Alghanim.
Lion in the Diwaniya
This video I think was shot in the UAE. Would be cool to see a video of the cheetahs at the diwaniya here in Kuwait. [YouTube]

They’re proud to be Kuwaiti
Proud to be Kuwaiti is a foundation that was formed to recognize and encourage the youth of Kuwait to depend on themselves and establish their own business by giving their skills and talent a chance to shine. A ton of already established and new local businesses will be coming together in one place on April 30th at the Arraya Ballroom for a large exhibition including 6alabat.com, Q8Flowers.com, Burger Boutique, J’s Bakery, Slider Station, Munch, LoFat, Choowy Goowy, Thouq, Truth or Dare, Extreme Sports, Pink Moon and a lot more.
For more information on the event you can visit the Proud to be Kuwaiti website www.p2bk.com
Update: I was just informed that Burger Boutique, Slider Station and
Falafel & Co., are not participating in this event even though they are listed. It seems the organizers are placing companies without their consent. I also noticed LUSH on the list, I don’t know how that is the case since LUSH is not a local company, its an international franchise.
BBS (Bayan Bilingual School) is holding a Bazaar on Saturday the 26th of April. They will have music, games, haunted house, booths, lottery, soccer tournament and more. If you want to rent a booth call 9025308 and if you want to form a soccer team call 9309320.
The bazaar will start at 10AM and end at 6PM.
Back from Jordan
I came back to Kuwait last night and I have to say I was pretty disappointed with Jordan. The country is very poor which I found very shocking since I was expecting it to be something of a combination of Lebanon and Kuwait. The King and Queen seem very sophisticated and down to earth which is why its even more confusing why things are the way they are there. The Jordanian people are extremely nice, reminded me a lot of the hospitality of Bahraini people. Things I missed and would like to try the next time I am there: the falafels at Hashem, the burger at Lebnani and the Blouzaat store.
