On my way home tonight I decided to pass by the Al Zayanni dealership to check out the new Bugatti. Turns out the Bugatti left Kuwait two days ago and is now in Saudi Arabia. I asked the salesman if anyone purchased the Bugatti, he told me there was one guy who was interested but nothing is final yet. I asked him if the Bugatti was going to come back to Kuwait, he replied telling me if the guy who was interested in the car buys it then you will see it again in Kuwait. The price of the car was exactly KD400,000. The money would be payable directly to Bugatti. I think Al Zayanni just lent out their showroom to Bugatti who I am guessing are touring the Gulf trying to sell the cars.

Doha Asian Games in Kuwait

So me and some friends from work were leaving Souk Sharq at 2 after lunch to get back to the office when it turned out the cops had closed all the exits. The cop told us no one would be allowed to leave the Souk Sharq parking lot for around an hour because the Doha Asian Games torch was passing by on the Gulf Road.
So we parked the car and just hung out next to the cops on the side of the road. Nibaq was with us since he had met up with us for lunch. We just hung around chilling for like 15 minutes before we noticed a bus and an Hummer stop by us and drop off a guy with an unlit torch. Then a few minutes later down the road we noticed a huge convoy coming closer slowly. Nibaq had a camera and he took some pictures of what we saw. Basically there was some guy running with a lit torch and all the cars around him were driving slow and cheering him on. Once the guy got to the other guy with the unlit torch, he passed on the flame and then the other guy started running. It was basically a torch relay but it looked like they were dropping guys off every 100 meters.
After they passed, the Gulf Road remained closed for another 30 minutes. It was crazy, most of the people at Souk Sharq wanted to get back to work but like us they were just stuck there for a full hour. Finally at 3PM they opened the roads and we drove back to the office.
The shot above was taken by Nibaq, he also took more shots which you can see by clicking [Here]

K.theKuwaiti conducted a survey on Kuwait ISP’s by asking people what provider they were with, how much they were paying and what download speed they were getting. Using the results he plugged them into an Excel sheet and calculated which ISP gives you the best bang for the buck.
So what is the best deal? Turns out its Qualitynet followed closely by Zajil. Fasttelco came in last. For a more detailed analysis check out K’s post. [Link]

Auction it TODAY – Kuwait

Auction it TODAY is basically a company that will take care of selling your stuff on eBay. A Kuwait branch was announced awhile back but they just very recently opened up shop. I called them up to get an idea of how their service works and this is what I found out. Just a note, I am not 100% positive about the information below because the person I spoke to wasn’t very clear over the phone. But this basically what I understood from him.
1) You bring your item to them
2) If you don’t have an idea how much your item is worth they will research and find out how much its worth on the market
3) They will take a picture of your item, post it on eBay and take care of shipping the item to the buyer and everything else
4) In return they take a commission fee. If your item sells for under $500, they take 38% commission. If your item sells for more then $500 they take a 30% commission. The commission fee is negotiable if you have a lot of items.
5) If you list your item without a reserve and no one buys it. You pay them only KD2. If you list and item with a reserve price and no one buys it, you pay them KD7.
Auction it TODAY is located in the Free Trade Zone near Movenpick , Building D-14. You can call them on 4613325.
I personally think its a cool service but the commission rate is just absurdly high. Is this normal? I have never used a service like this before so 30% could be the standard rate and I wouldn’t know.

Mac & More in Marina Mall have the red iPod Nano in stock but they are selling it for KD95 for some reason which is too expensive. Probably because they have a limited quantity, when I checked they had just 2 left.

Recently PayPal started accepting credit cards from Bahrain, Qatar and UAE. How does Kuwait fit in to this? Well the American Express office in Kuwait issues their credit cards from Bahrain. So, if you have an American Express credit card you can now sign up for a PayPal account. When PayPal asks for your billing address just put the address of the Bahrain Amex office which is the following:
P O Box 5990
Al Seef District 428
Manama 428
Bahrain
For those of you who don’t have an American Express card you can get one from the American Express office located in Salhiya Complex. Their phone number is 2413000.
Thanks to BusyNow for sharing this information with me.

The walk from the long term parking to the main airport felt like a triathlon. I really need to start working out.
