Q8Life posted about how the ad above is a national disgrace due to the fact that the currency is torn in half. Does anyone else find it offensive? I personally don’t. [Link]
The picture above was taken yesterday after the inauguration while the one below was taken after Bush got attacked with shoes last month. I thought he would have definitely been reassigned to McDonalds or something…
A friend told me about this strange Japanese game show called Gaki Attack. The show takes four guys, locks them up in a gymnasium for 24 hours and then terrorizes them with a group of ninjas. I’ve watched a few episodes on YouTube and its hilarious. You can check the official site by going to GakiAttack.com
Here is one funny clip from [YouTube]
This is totally gross. A 57 year old man in China slipped in the bathroom and fell on a tap which got stuck in his eye. More details and a picture of his x-ray can be found [Here]
It seems a fire fighter shot a video of the Esprit store in the Avenues after the fire and the video is now floating around the Internet. Someone already uploaded the short clip to YouTube and you can watch the video above. I still haven’t heard anything about what started the fire though. [YouTube]
Thanks Moey!
Although I got my Tamiya Lunch Box truck early in the month I had a faster motor and metal ball bearings I still hadn’t received from eBay so I couldn’t start the build until today. Aramex dropped off my parts in the morning and once I got home I started work on the Lunch Box right away. Five hours later it was done. I only managed to drive the truck for a few minutes under my building in the dark but it was great. Tomorrow I need to pick up a white spray can so I could stencil in some type on the side. Will post more pictures once I am done, I love how its turned out so far.
I am currently at work watching the inauguration live on CNN.com and for some reason Facebook is integrated into this mix. This is like the strangest team up, but I am watching the video feed live on the left side of the browser window with Facebook active on the right side.
I sooo want these sneakers! Only 130 pairs of these lucky-red sneakers were made and I desperately want one. I love the embroidered graphics in the red silk texture and the box with the different compartments for the different shoe laces it comes with is really cool.
I found my size on eBay but its selling for KD288! I wouldn’t mind paying that much if the sneakers somehow magically didn’t get old or dirty. But to pay that much and watch dirt and grime cover them… Check out this link for a lot more details and more pictures of the sneakers. [Link]
The blog is now very iPhone and iTouch friendly. When you access the site using any of those devices you should see a specially formatted version of the blog (like the screenshot above) that works a lot better and faster.
Also some users might have noticed the site looks a lot better than it did a couple of weeks ago. Thats because of the web design company Design Box who were able to fix the blog so that it now looks the same across all the browsers.
If anyone is experiencing any kind of difficulties viewing the blog please leave a comment below.
I don’t know how many people are aware of this but Amazon has a service called Mechanical Turk which is basically a web service that pays people to perform tasks. These tasks can vary from anything like writing essays or short reviews to finding stuff for other people. The amount you get paid could be anything from 1 cent to hundreds of dollars. You as a person can either ask for a task to be done and offer money to whoever completes the task OR you can flip through what tasks are available and do them and get paid.
For example, last week I posted about this cool Amazon app on the iPhone where you can take a picture of an item, send it to Amazon and they will find the same product for you on their website. Well Amazon lists these pictures as tasks on Mechanical Turk and offers 10 cents to anyone who finds the link to the same product on Amazon.com.
Since I already spend a lot of time on Amazon I’ve actually been accepting a lot of tasks. So far I’ve found a Motorola phone for someone, an LG plasma, Xbox games, Sushi rice, mugs, books, oven and a ton of other stuff for people I don’t know in return for just 10 cents a find. So far I think I’ve made like $3. There are tens of thousands of tasks available on Mechanical Turk but I only work on ones called “Find the product for sale on Amazon.com”. They are EXTREMELY hard to find and work on since they are very popular easy tasks and usually by the time it gets listed someone else already agreed to work on it. I’ve found a way to get these jobs easily but I won’t be sharing it so other people don’t use my technique.
Its pretty silly, the money is very little but honestly when you’re bored online and it can be really fun since you never know what you will have to find next. Here is the link to the Mechanical Turk website. [Link]
Interesting fact. The reason the US Airways plane stayed afloat in the river for so long is partly because the Airbus A320 is equipped with a “ditch switch”. The ditch switch is a button in the cockpit that when activated, seals all ports and openings on the lower fuselage, so that once the aircraft enters the water, it doesn’t take on water as quickly as it would normally (via vents, drains, etc). I think that’s pretty cool. [Link]

I received two emails regarding a fire at the Avenues mall this morning. The last email I received stated that the damage from the fire effected the area from Debenhams up to as far as Top Shop and that some stores were still closed as of this moment and the mall was full of smoke and water.
According to an employee of iCity, a restaurant next to Starbucks caught fire. I also called D*lush and they told me that a large portion of the mall was currently cordoned off by police and that they couldn’t get close enough from their side to see what had happened. An employee of the store Carbon Fiber told me he didn’t know the name of the place that caught fire but it was near Columbus Cafe.
Update (11:55AM): My original source emailed back with an update. Currently the word is the cause of the fire was electrical and thats why it spread really fast. Esprit has also been completely obliterated which means that the fire also spread to the second floor not just the first.
Update (6:32PM): The Slider Station owner sent me a picture of some of the damage from the Avenues. I posted it above.
Update (11:12PM): According to my original source, the fire started on the 2nd floor (ESPRIT) and spread quickly. The sprinkler system came on and ended up flooding the stores below (Top Shop, Foot Locker). The smoke re-circulated through all of the air conditioning ducts and has smoke damaged all of the products in the stores below.
