Ummmm, a weird google search page.. [Link]

Although Fasttelco have removed the YouTube and MySpace block, a ton of other sites are still blocked including LiveJournal.com!

Another reason to choose Qualitynet over Fasttelco.

update: been playing with the site for a bit and its a lot cleaner and easier to navigate then the older one.

Porsche Kuwait recently launched a local website and they’ve been advertising it kinda heavily in the papers and magazines. So I just checked the site out and the coolest thing has to be the fact they have the prices listed. Porsches seem a lot more affordable then I thought they were. I thought the Boxster started at 16,000 but it actually starts at like 13,000 while I used to think the Cayenne started at 22,000 but it actually starts at like 14,500. [Link]

How long has this been up for? I just found out that Monster.com the largest job search website has a gulf edition located at MonsterGulf.com. This can’t be good for Bayt.com.

update: I just checked the domains whois info and the domain was purchased on June 1st, 2006 meaning the site is very new, most probably less then a month old.

Tonight I met up with the owners of Burger Boutique. For some reason I always imagined them to be old but they turned out to be young and one of them was even with me in high school. Qualitynet: KD24.5 a month (You need an NBK account for this price)
UnitedNet: KD25 a month (Yearly contract paid montly)
Fasttelco: KD70 a month (KD50 if paid 1 year in advance)

Just a note, Fasttelco had the lousiest sales guy when I called, really crap. UnitedNet don’t seem to have a website which I think is very ify Turns out they do have a website but google doesn’t know about it. With Qualitynet if you don’t have an NBK account then you need to pay the full year subscription in advance or you will have to pay the monthly fee of KD38.

Etisalat the only ISP in UAE has recently started blocking YouTube. I always thought UAE was more “open” than Kuwait with all the alcohol, prostitution and a lot more westerners yet the ISP seems more conservative then the Saudi Arabian government. Last year they blocked Flickr which was EXTREMLY popular with all the creative photographers in UAE and now they blocked YouTube. Etisalat just really sucks. [Link]

This looks complicated to do but the result is really rewarding. If you have neighbors who are stealing your Wifi you can do two things, either encryt your Wifi or have some fun with them.
