I’ve always wanted Craigslist to open a Kuwait section and it looks like they just did. Check kuwait.craigslist.org, they’ve even kept the erotic section which should be interesting!
Slider Station is one of my favorite burger places in Kuwait. They’ve got a huge variety of sliders, burgers, starters, fries and desserts while also having one of the trendiest designed restaurant interiors in Kuwait as well as good music and some amazing staff. My favorite two things there are the onion strings with Chipotle sauce on the side and Ancho rib slider.
Their Black Widow burger was reviewed by me in “The Best Burger in Kuwait Challenge” and scored very high. A lot of people were put off by the price but now could be a good way to try it because Slider Station are offering lunch or dinner for two as today’s giveaway. I had a choice between going to Dubai and getting a Tamiya CR01 crawler, wasn’t that difficult a choice. Going to spend Eid at home putting it together and hopefully spend the winter down south crawling with the other FJ Cruisers pictured below. So what are you doing this Eid?

And they ruined it
One of my favorite skyscrapers in Kuwait just got slapped on with a tacky blue signage right on the top. Wasn’t there a nicer way to do it? I’ve noticed a lot of buildings use this blue cheap looking plastic for the building names but it really ruins the look, there must be a better or more tasteful material that can be used.

I was reading an article in WIRED magazine about Patrick Blanc and his famous vertical wall gardens when I read the following:
Forty-five years on, the French botanist’s gardens have grown massive in scale. One inside a Portuguese shopping mall is larger than four tennis courts, and there’s one in Kuwait that’s almost as big. [Source]
So I did a bit of googling and found this article from January of this year that says:

I’ve been to 360 Mall a few times and never noticed the vertical garden so I checked for some images of the mall online and found the picture above on Ansam’s blog showing the vertical garden. I don’t think a lot of people have noticed it before, maybe they should add a plaque or something in front of it. It’s interesting.

Yesterday night I passed by Abyat to check up on something and on my way out I decided to pass by this new place that had opened right in front of it called Aquamondo. It’s a cute place that has everything you need for your bathroom ranging from shower curtains and floor mats to shower heads and bathtubs. They even have a small area with a few shower heads setup where you can turn them on and see how the water flows out of them.
Abyat does have a bigger collection of shower heads and tubs but its still neat.
This giveaway thing is turning out to be pretty cool. I’ve got I think around 14 more giveaways to give since a lot of businesses want to be part of this which is great for everyone. I am also trying to get a variety of gifts, some food related, some electronic stuff, some stuff for guys and some stuff for girls etc. So far I think I’ve got a nice variety lined up. Nibaq tweeted the other day that he heard Trader Vic’s on the Gulf Road got turned into Shrimpy. I thought that was a joke (and a funny one) but turns out it’s true. I just passed by it on my way to work and the signs are already up, Trader Vic’s has shutdown and Shrimpy is there instead. This can’t be good for Don Mario’s and Letter Damour whom are now going to be located right behind Shrimpy.
Update: It seems Don Mario’s and Letter Damour have also closed down. I tried Don Mario’s once and didn’t like it but a lot of people I know used to say good things about.

Ugly Tires = Pass
Back in July my car failed the yearly mechanical test because of my large tires. Today I finally swapped them out for 4 much smaller tires that don’t even match and my Jeep passed the test. They were really dangerous to drive with so I quickly put back my large tires again.
