We needed an ambulance at our office because a guy with diabetes fainted due to low sugar (or something like that). We called 777 and within 5 minutes the paramedics arrived. I am impressed.

Smartwrap is a small rubber stereo earphone cord manager. Basically what this means is if you have a headphone with a really long cord, the Smartwrap solves that issue for you by making it shorter.

When the Smartwraps first came out ages ago I wanted one but the only website that sold them only accepted PayPal which wouldn’t work with my Kuwaiti visa card. I then forgot about it until yesterday when I noticed someone at work had gotten one. His sister had ordered a couple and he ended up giving me a black one.

This thing rocks, its such a small simple thing but its won a couple of design awards and its just extremely practical. As you can see in the picture above I have wrapped my headphone around the Smartwrap, its annoying to have excess cable when I am working at my desk and its a lot neater now.

I just bought a two way ticket to Lebanon for Nat and the total came out to KD26 after taxes. Someone else in the office tried to get a ticket for the same day but their total came out KD62. The prices are going up quickly as more and more seats are being filled so hurry up.

Update 2: In case I wasn’t clear I meant to say that tickets on certain dates are getting more expensive because a lot of people are choosing the same day (ie weekends for example). You can find KD2 tickets but it most probably will be during the weekday.

There is a guy going around trying and reviewing every Taco in LA. I want to do the same in Kuwait except I want to try and review every shawerma. That would be so awesome! [Link]

Today I passed by Aramex to pick up some old packages I had lying over at their place plus to pick up the package Ananyah sent me earlier in the month. She told me she was sending me a cookie monster doll which from the picture looked like some cool tiny phone sized thingy. To my shock the doll turned out to be pretty big and not only that she sent me two fucking cookie monster dolls, a cookie monster tshirt, a gift for Nibaq AND a whole bunch of chocolate munchies for Nat! Really cool stuff and best of all Geo is having a blast playing with whats left of the colorful wrapping paper and packaging. Thank you Ananyah!!

Another cool thing I found on flickr, the pictures above were taken on a beach in Kuwait by Psycho Milt. They are both pictures of the same car except the first one was taken back in September and the second one taken mid March. Pretty cool.

I was flipping through flickr when I found pictures of this guys room at the Hilton Resort in Mangaf. The guy I think works with the US military and has atleast 5 laptops in there with a whole bunch of equipment that would fit nicely with Jack Bauer. As most of you know you can’t use Firefox with Watani online, so I called customer support and they gave me an email I should send my complaint to, [email protected]

This is the email I just sent:

Hi, I spoke with an IT person earlier and he advised me to email you my complaint.

I am a Mac user and I can’t access Watani Online. When I try to access Watani Online with Firefox or Safari it tells me to download Internet Explorer. But when I went to the Microsoft site to download Internet Explorer I got a message saying the following:

INTERNET EXPLORER FOR MAC NO LONGER AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD
In June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development, and support would cease in 2005. In accordance with published support lifecycle policies, Microsoft ended support for Internet Explorer for Mac on December 31st, 2005, and is not providing any further security or performance updates.

Accordingly, as of January 31st, 2006, Internet Explorer for the Mac is no longer available for download from Microsoft. It is recommended that Macintosh users migrate to more recent web browsing technologies such as Apple’s Safari.

But when I use Safari I get an error and I can’t use IE because its not available anymore. Could you please allow Mac users to access Watani Online with FireFox or Safari. If not could NBK provide its customers with a CD that contains Internet Explorer for the Mac. But again, I am thinking that if Microsoft is recommending Safari it means IE on the Mac isn’t secure in the first place so I am not sure I would like to use IE anyway to access my bank records.

Nataly just called me from the airport, her Emirates flight was delayed and arrived 45 minutes late! So let me get this right, last week my sister faced delays when she flew with Emirates to Dubai and back. A couple of days ago Nat’s flight to Dubai using Emirates got delayed over 2 hours, and now, on her way back to Kuwait it got delayed 45 minutes. Why is this the best airline in the world again?

I am currently trying to see if I can improve safat. I know Nibaq is really busy and since Nat is out of town I have a lot of free time so last night I started working on what I think safat should be like. I don’t really have a major problem with safat I just think the theme should be changed into something neater and that Nibaq should move away from the Drupal software which he currently uses over to WordPress.

The site where I am testing my version of safat is 248pm.com (finally found a use for it). At the moment I just have some of my favorite blogs listed since I am just working on the basic look and layout. Its still beta ofcourse and I am keeping it very simple with a web2.0 feel. update: just got the full list of bloggers from Nibaq and added them to 248pm feeds. By tomorrow it should be working smoothly like safat. Also it checks for new feeds every 15 minutes so it should be faster then safat.

update 2: so far 248pm.com is getting feeds faster then safat which is what I predicted. I replaced the Store link on the top navigation bar of this blog with 2:48PM since its more practical that way.

I took route 55 to get to the airport from my Kuwait City office and it was my first and last time I take that road to the airport. Too many traffic lights, lots of traffic, and just totally not the right way to get there fast. Anyway I am stuck in traffic and I look to my left and I see two Kuwaiti girls in a car. They look in their 20’s, the one driving looked like a nerd and her friend I guess looked decent. I didn’t think of them much and traffic started moving. We get to the next traffic light and they are still next to me. Out of the corner of my eye I noticed the decent looking girl was doing something, I didn’t turn to look because I didn’t want her to think I was checking her out or anything so I ignore it. Traffic light turns green we start moving and I look to my left and suddenly the decent looking girl is wearing a black hijab and her face is covered and you can just see her eyes. I was like what the fuck is going on here? We each drove off in different directions but I didn’t really understand what happened. Can anyone enlighten me on this? Is this like a normal thing?

Nataly is stuck at the airport, her flight to Dubai on board Emirates was delayed 2 hours and 15 minutes. Last week my sisters flight to Dubai also on board Emirates was delayed an hour and a half. So why are people still flying with Emirates instead of Jazeera I don’t know…
