Play RISK using Google Maps

From the FAQ: For some reason I decided a bit after the API for Google Maps came out that it would be awesome to be able to play Risk on it… I’ve always been a gamer and thought this was the perfect step. [Link]

idontlikeyouinthatway.com Blocked

What the fuck, I was just checking idontlikeyouinthatway.com as I have been doing everyday now except today its blocked by my ISP Qualitynet! Why did they block it now? It didn’t have any nudity recently or anything controversial. There are worse sites out there and they decide to block celebrity gossip! Unbelievable!

Bazaar Magazine Knows Shit

bazaar

I just read a post on K The Kuwaiti’s blog about an article in Bazaar magazine on local bloggers. While the whole world is talking about bloggers and realizing their online importance, our local Bazaar magazine seems to think us bloggers don’t have a life and are just a bunch of loser hermits living at home. I guess that article basically summarizes the magazine’s naive mentality. I should blame the author of the article but I would rather blame the editor instead since he was the one who approved this crap. Maybe the Bazaar editor should try using the Internet one time and maybe check up on the definition of bloggers before he would agree to allowing a lame ass article like that get published. Oh well, it is Bazaar in the end so you can’t expect too much intelligence. [Link]

Random live webcams from the Net

These webcams were found automatically through a variety of clever search techniques. Their owners might or might not have intended for them to be public. But they obviously are. Many of them are security cameras in companies or semi-public places. [Link]

HOWTO Use Your Mac From Anywhere

An easy to use “how to” on how to setup your Mac so that you can access it from anywhere. If you have an IP address that isn’t fixed then I would suggest the Dynamic DNS service from DynDNS which they mention because it allows you to basically keep track of your most recent IP while you are away from your home. I have been using it for some time now and its pretty cool. [Link]

Cheap and Tiny

cheap and tiny

Two of my favorite blogs are tech blogs, Gizmodo and Engadget. The problem with both of these blogs is most of the items they post about our too expensive to purchase. This is why I am going to start checking this new blog called Cheap and Tiny. Its a blog about tiny gadgets that won’t break the bank, check it out. [Link]

Akismet – New WordPress Anti-Spam Plugin

akismet

Matt Mullenweg of WordPress has released a new anti-spam plugin for WordPress called Akismet. According to the early beta users its supposed to be incredibly accurate capturing 99.51% of the spam with no false positives. I personally won’t be installing it since I am using Spam Karma and it has been doing an incredible job catching in total over 10,000 spam comments since I installed it late September. Plus Spam Karma is free. [Link]

Evolt Redesign

I just realized that Evolt redesigned their website. I stopped checking the site in the summer because it wasn’t being updated due to the redesign but now 5 months later the site is back up but I really hate the new look. The old design looked way better in my opinion plus the articles were much easier to read. Luckily I am not the only one who hates their new design and many users have left their feedback on this issue. Hopefully they will read them and fix things up. [Link]

Hide My Ass

Since Google VPN is kinda flaky at the moment, you could try anonymous browsing (for Free) using Hide My Ass. [Link]

Note: Keep in mind, Hide my Ass is NOT secure. Meaning if your connection at the office is monitored, they will know where you have been going. For a secure connection use Proxify.

Google Anonymous Proxy

Wow, this rocks. vpn.google.com/getpass/

I just downloaded the PPTP software DigiTunnel and am going to try it out. If it works I won’t have to use proxify anymore.

Update:
It didn’t work at work but I just set it up at home now and its working perfectly. Keep in mind that once you disconnect from the VPN you will need to get another username and password from the google site.
Bye bye proxify!

23 plus free for two years

I just got an email from 23HQ (previously 23people). They have moved out of the beta stage and are upgrading all existing users to a free 2 year plus subscription. 23HQ is like flickr except not as crowded. I personally use it to put my favorite photos on and I also love the fact that my username is “mark” there. You can check out my favorite pictures by going to 23hq.com/mark
