According to survival rates based on seating, it turns out the further back you are seated on the plane the higher your chance of surviving a crash. [Link]
I couldn’t figure out why the truck was tied to the building…
A friend of ours surprised us tonight by pulling out an iPhone. Within seconds everyone was trying to get their hands on it, it looks a lot cooler in person than in the pictures. K.thekuwaiti has a more detailed writeup plus some more pictures on his blog, check it out. [Link]
Lots of Red Bull, street racing, a police chase and a group photo with an iPhone.
I don’t know if anyone has any details on this or if they can confirm it, I heard that Easa Husain Al-yousifi & Sons Co. lost the brand Panasonic and instead now have Sharp. If this is true, who will get Panasonic?
update: Turns out they didn’t lose Panasonic but just added Sharp:
Dear Mark,
Thanks for the concern. We are still the agents of Panasonic in Kuwait. As for Sharp, we have created a joint venture with Al-Mulla group to better promote Sharp in Kuwait. We are dedicated to bring the best products with the highest quality to our customers.

Just found out from a friend that Taco Time is coming back to Kuwait. They used to be open before in the mid 90’s but then shut down and now it seems they are reopening again. According to their website they will be opening 4 branches, one in Salmiya, one in Souk Salmiya, another in Hawalli and one more in Salwa. The Salmiya one is supposedly behind Johnny Rockets and the signage seems to be up. The launch according to their website is third quarter of this year. [Link]
Some convincing arguments that puts the E70 ahead of the iPhone by a guy who is in love with his phone.
…the Nokia E70, it’s the pinnacle of human achievement, and I love it more than my family.
…yeah REALLY in love with his phone. [Link]

Was just browsing when I fell upon some illustrations done by a French girl called Anne-Julie Aubry. I love her style and I just emailed her asking if she had any paintings for sale. The illustration above is called “The Fall”. [Link]
Some incredible light graffiti by a photographer called Michael Bosanko. [Link]
update: The photographer had this to say:
Hi folks. Thanks for the kind words about my work 🙂 Somebody pointed this link to me, and it made my day 🙂
All of the images are done in one take, maximum 30 second exposure, no photoshop involved in any of them. I pre-determine the images before I mark them out with light. I’ve started introducing a secondary light into my work, which means I need to be extra fast, as you can see on the example in the cornfield I did.
Anyway, just thought I’d pop in and say thanks!
Kind regards,
Michael
The BeerBelly is a fake belly you wear under your clothes and it has a container which stores your cold or hot drinks. I could imagine people trying to sneak alcohol into Kuwait with this. Since Kuwait is the 8th fattest country in the world you wouldn’t even stick out. [Link]
Thanks Nibaq!
Two years ago I posted about the signs on the Gulf Road that are placed before the exits that take you to the sea side restaurants like Chili’s and Fridays. Well today I noticed they have new signs in place and they look even worse! Not only that but they have two of the signs mixed up, they have the Fridays sign at the exit for Johnny Carino’s and the Johnny Carino’s sign in front of the exit for Fridays.
