Matt Mullenweg of WordPress has released a new anti-spam plugin for WordPress called Akismet. According to the early beta users its supposed to be incredibly accurate capturing 99.51% of the spam with no false positives. I personally won’t be installing it since I am using Spam Karma and it has been doing an incredible job catching in total over 10,000 spam comments since I installed it late September. This is a good post by a student on how to wake up feeling fresh and energetic instead of grumpy and sleepy. The student suggests a very simple method of setting up 2 alarms, the first one would play music at a very low volume while the second alarm will ring at your normal volume. The thinking behind this is you set your first music alarm at very low volume to play at a time you want to wake up. If you wake up to the music you would probably be in light sleep and you will wake up feeling good. You set the second alarm to the latest time you would want to wake up, as a backup in case the first alarm didn’t wake you up. If you wake up to the second alarm you would wake up the normal way you wake up every day.

I can’t find it now but I remember reading in a local blog a complaint about Kuwait Cinema closing for Ramadan. Well I think I now know why, it seems they are rebranding. KNCC will become the mother company while CinemaScape (if i remember correctly) will be the new name. You might have noticed the outdoor ads recently (the do not cross yellow police line), I think they will launch the new brand once they open up the cinemas again during eid.
update: seems KNCC closed today till eid and has been open throughout ramadan.

Yesterday I watched Audition (Ôdishon) which was recommended to me by my brother. What a fucked up movie that was. The movie starts off extremely slow, boring and uneventful. I wanted to turn it off soo many times but I remembered my brother telling me wait till the end so I did. What a fucking end! No way on earth would I have expected anything like that. I wish I could explain what happens but I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. The end of the movie has one of the most graphic scenes I have ever watched, Nataly even covered her eyes and wanted me to mute it because she couldn’t handle it. The movie in short is about this guy who is a widow and is looking for a wife. His best friend suggests they set up a fake movie audition in which he could use it to find a girl he is interested in. The guy finds a girl and falls in love. Other then that I will not say any more.
This is the second movie I’ve watched for Takashi Miike. The first one was Visitor Q (Bizita Q) which was also really weird but not as enjoyable as Audition. Overall I really liked yesterdays movie, I realize now why the intro was so normal and dull, its just to create a huge contrast with the end of the movie.

The Bourne Supremacy
Once again I was able to watch two movies yesterday. The first movie I watched was The Bourne Supremacy. It was very forgetful and I think it would be a waste of my time to talk about it allot. I don’t know how the movie scored a 7.4 on IMDB. It was better then Be Cool and Kicking & Screaming but not better then the second movie I watched, The Village.
The Village
Two days ago McArabian suggested I should watch the movie The Village starring Joaquin Phoenix. So I downloaded it and watched it last night and it was a really good movie. It’s not one of the best movies I’ve watched this year but not every movie has to be the best movie ever to be good. Here is the plot summary from IMDB:
In a quiet, isolated village in olde Pennsylvania, there lies a pact between the people of the village and the creatures who reside in the surrounding woods: the townspeople do not enter the woods, and the creatures do not enter the village. The pact stays true for many years, but when Lucius Hunt seeks medical supplies from the towns beyond the wood, the pact is challenged. Animal carcasses, devoid of fur, begin to appear around the village, causing the council of elders to fear for the safety of the village, the pact, and so much more.
So the movie starts off very quiet and “normal” but by the time you get to the last 30 minutes everything changes, you just sit there and go no fucking way, no fucking way. I like movies who can do that to me. McArabian was also right when she said that The Village is a good Phoenix movie. Since I watched Ladder 49 and now this, my views on Joaquin Phoenix have changed a lot and all for the better. Adrien Brody and Sigourney Weaver also star in this movie. I personally think she should stick to fighting aliens, it doesn’t suit her to be an old mother in a village. So if you readers can watch this movie I would definitely recommend it.
