A Sustainable Kuwaiti Brand, Pantera Furtiva

Pantera Furtiva is a Kuwaiti brand that was born from the owner’s (Yousef) fascination with minimalism and his appreciation for quality craftsmanship. The name, which means “stealthy panther” in Italian, captures Yousef’s style: quiet, powerful and built to last.

Yousef doesn’t believe in fast fashion, flashy logos or overpriced clothing made in sweatshops. He wanted to create pieces that last, are made ethically and can fit seamlessly into any wardrobe.

And his stuff is actually really cool, as evident from their first sneaker launch. Made from Grade A Italian leather and crafted by hand in Portugal, I think these sneakers look very clean and understated. They’re actually so my style, especially since the branding doesn’t stick out, but is still there if you look for it.

I also find it interesting how Yousef kept mentioning how important sustainability was to him and his team, and it’s also highlighted all over their website. Sustainability isn’t something that most of us have grown up with here and doesn’t play a major role in our lives, so to hear him talk about how crucial it is to his brand makes me want to start being more sustainable myself.

When it comes to the leather they use, Yousef makes sure to source it from a certified, environmentally conscious factory that avoids harmful dyes and mass production. Even the soles are made from recycled rubber, reducing the brand’s overall carbon footprint. Most of the packaging is also recycled, except for the thank-you card and bag, which Yousef plans to replace with recyclable versions soon.

If you’re traveling this summer, these shoes are the perfect pair to take with you since they go well with casual wear but also work if you want to go somewhere nice at night. They’re also 20% off right now, which makes them a pretty good deal.

If you want to find out more about the brand, head over to @panterafurtiva our head over to their website panterafurtiva.com

Pro tip: Women should go up one size when ordering, as the sizing runs small.

OLE Just Opened at Kuwait Airport’s T4

OLE Coffee, the local independent coffee roasters, just opened their 45th branch at Kuwait Airport’s Terminal 4.

The terminal was long overdue for a specialty coffee spot, so I’m glad that OLE Coffee stepped in. They’re known for using high-grade beans that are freshly roasted in Kuwait and ethically sourced directly from farmers. They’re also committed to sustainability. On top of that, they also serve exceptional ceremonial-grade matcha imported from Japan.

The new OLE Coffee branch is located near the arrivals area at T4, so you can grab a coffee before checking in or while waiting for someone to land. Find out more over at @theolecoffee.

If you sit at a desk all day, this is for you

Spa Time and Men Time were the first specialized luxury spas to open in Kuwait. Known for focusing on traditional healing techniques and body care, they’ve recently introduced two new treatments: a healing massage designed for Office Syndrome and another for tension in the lower legs and feet.

Office Syndrome is a growing health issue caused by poor posture, repetitive movements, and extended periods of inactivity, usually from long hours spent working at a desk or in front of a computer.

Some common symptoms of Office Syndrome include:

  • Muscle stiffness and body pain
  • Headaches or migraines
  • Numbness, tingling, or pain in the limbs
  • Eye strain
  • Poor circulation and fatigue

I relate to all of the above since I spend so much time sitting in front of a computer. This specialized treatment is actually recommended for people like me, as well as office workers, students, and even gamers.

The second treatment they’ve introduced, which you might also find interesting, is called Tired Leg & Foot Massage. This targeted therapy is designed to relieve fatigue, heaviness, and tension in the lower legs and feet. It’s ideal for people who stand or walk for long periods, travel frequently, or experience poor circulation and swelling in their legs. Sounds like the perfect treatment after a trip that involved a lot of walking.

I’m actually considering trying the Office Syndrome treatment myself, so if any of them also sound like something you’d be into, check them out. They have 7 branches around Kuwait, including in Al Muhallab, Avenues, Al Kout Mall, and Kipco Tower, so chances are there’s one near you. You can find out more on their website here.

Deboned’s New Loumi Flavor for Summer

Deboned is my go-to spot when I want to eat clean or healthy. Their grilled chicken is packed with flavor, and since they have branches near my home and office, delivery is always quick.

One of the reasons I like their chicken so much is the special marination they use, and now they’ve introduced a new flavor for a limited time, Loumi. The flavor is inspired by the tangy depth of black lime, and it’s perfect for summer when you’re craving something light but tasty.

The new Loumi flavor is available across all their chicken dishes, including Shawarma, Chicken Wings, and of course, the Half Chicken and Whole Chicken options (with or without rice).

I didn’t realize this until I got their press release, but Deboned isn’t just in Kuwait anymore. They’ve also expanded to Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, which explains why I’ve been seeing them pop up more online.

If you’ve never tried Deboned before, or if you want to check out the new flavor, head over to their Instagram page for more info @deboned.kw

Sending Money Abroad Just Got Way Easier

If you regularly send money abroad, there’s now an easier and cheaper way to do it in Kuwait. Al Ansari Exchange recently launched a new app that lets you transfer money internationally directly from your phone, and based on what I’ve seen so far, it works really well.

You’ll need a Kuwait Civil ID and a local number to sign up, and the process took me less than 3 minutes to get started. Once registered, you can send money to countries like the UK, Europe, the US, and Canada using market exchange rates. The fees are low with transfers starting at 3KD with no hidden charges, and no sketchy buy/sell currency conversion margins.

The app allows bank-to-bank transfers for GBP, Euro, USD, and CAD, which is perfect for summer travel. You can even top up your Visa card from the app too. The app is really easy to use and it’s available in seven languages, including English, Arabic, Filipino, Hindi, Malayan, Tamil, and Telugu.

If you don’t want to use the app or don’t have a Civil ID, you can still visit one of Al Ansari’s 39 branches in Kuwait and transfer from there. With their recent $200 million acquisition of Bahrain Financing Company, they’ll soon have 80+ branches across the country.

Whether you’re sending money back home or moving funds for travel, it’s worth checking out. To find out more you can head to alansariexchange.com.kw

OYO – Desserts Made for Sharing

One of the cool things about my partnership with Jahez is that I never know what they’re going to send me, so it’s always a surprise and a fun way to try something new. This weekend, they sent over desserts from OYO. I hadn’t tried OYO before, but they sent so many items I basically got to sample almost everything on the menu. Here’s what I got:

Crunch: Three layers of chocolate and crunch biscuits

Fluffy Box: Moist cake coated in layers of milk, white and crunch chocolate

OYO Crack: Milk chocolate with pecan salted caramel

Pist-OYO: Chocolate bites filled with crispy kunafa and pistachio spread with wafers

Very Berry: Fresh raspberry with milk chocolate and white chocolate

The brand clearly focuses on gatherings, offering lots of bite-sized options. Their bold yellow packaging also stands out, making their items pop next to other dessert brands at gatherings. I like taking bite-sized desserts to gatherings since it lets people try a bit of everything instead of committing to just one dessert.

From what they sent over, my favorite was the Crunch, even though it was the least visually exciting. My second favorite was the OYO Crack, while the best-looking item was definitely the perfectly shaped Pist-OYO (which was basically Dubai chocolate in a bite).

If you’re looking for new desserts for your next gathering, OYO is available on Jahez. If you’re a Jahez Prime member, you also get free delivery. Check them out @oyo_kw.

Cloudy with a Chance of Matcha

Matcha is having a moment, and Lean is riding the wave with two new drinks that are perfect for our warm weather. The popular health-focused spot just introduced Matcha Cloud Strawberry and Matcha Cloud Coconut — two iced beverages made with premium ceremonial-grade matcha and sweetened naturally with agave.

What sets them apart is the foam: light, airy, and infused with either strawberry or coconut that add texture and flavor in every sip. They’re refreshing, layered, and designed to cool you down and unlike other places, their matcha won’t load you up on sugar or heavy ingredients.

Lean has always stood out for its clean and creative menu — from soft-serve sweetened with sugar alternatives to protein-packed snacks. With over seven branches around Kuwait, they’ve built a loyal following of people who care about what they’re putting into their bodies but still want their food (and drinks) to taste good.

Whether you’re grabbing a post-gym cool down or just want something new to try that’s guilt-free, the new Matcha Cloud drinks are definitely worth checking out. @lean.kw

• Al-Subhan: The fruitful partnership was reflected in the opening exhibition that aimed to raise awareness of new traffic regulations

Boutiqaat continues to reinforce its leadership in community development through its distinguished sponsorship of the 38th edition of the Unified Gulf Traffic Week 2025. This year’s campaign is held under the slogan “Driving Without… a Phone” and is sponsored by the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Lt. General Salem Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The initiative aligns with Boutiqaat’s ongoing efforts to promote road safety awareness and foster a culture of security and responsibility across all segments of society.

Unified Gulf Traffic Week is considered one of the most important traffic awareness initiatives organized annually by the Ministry of Interior, represented by the General Directorate of Traffic. Through its major sponsorship, Boutiqaat aims to increase public awareness around traffic safety and help build well-informed communities where road environments are safe and stable.

On this occasion, Boutiqaat’s Public Relations Director, Ali Al-Tayyar, stated that the company’s sponsorship of Traffic Week reflects its dedication to solidifying its leadership as one of the first companies to actively prioritize community service. He added that Boutiqaat’s support for initiatives like this helps enhance awareness around traffic safety and reinforces the principles of personal and public safety.

He pointed out that such collaborations help create safer environments that protect lives and promote wellbeing.

Al-Subhan added that the successful partnership between the Ministry of Interior and Boutiqaat was clearly demonstrated during the opening exhibition of Traffic Week, held at The Avenues Mall on Sunday, April 13, 2025. The exhibition showcased the latest technologies used to detect violations that lead to accidents and also educated the public about key updates to traffic laws and penalties.

Boutiqaat remains committed to building more strategic partnerships aimed at raising awareness across various social causes, in line with its vision of channeling its capabilities to serve and uplift the community it belongs to. Link

New Cheesesteaks Are Ready to Be Unboxed

Bite Club, my favorite local cheesesteak concept, just launched three brand-new sandwiches today.

If you haven’t heard of Bite Club before, it’s a local creation started by a group of friends who are passionate about food. One of the reasons I love their cheesesteaks—besides the flavor—is the high-quality meat they use. Their commitment to quality ingredients extends across the whole menu; they even make their sauces in-house from scratch so they can control every ingredient.

Today they’re launching three new cheesesteaks:

The OG Cheesesteak – Sliced premium beef, grilled onions, cheese sauce, and mayo

The Pepper Pop Cheesesteak – Sliced premium beef, grilled onions, banana & cherry peppers, cheese sauce, and mayo

The Truffle Cheesesteak – Sliced premium beef, crispy onions, mushrooms, white cheese, and truffle mayo

I don’t like peppers so I didn’t try the Pepper Pop but I did try the OG and Truffle Cheesesteaks yesterday. The OG is one I’ll be ordering the most often since it’s similar to their classic cheesesteak except it uses grilled onions and cheese sauce instead of caramelized onions and sliced cheese. The Truffle Cheesesteak I also liked and I appreciated the fact that they hadn’t gone overboard with the truffle flavor.

They also sent over their chicken bites (Chickies) which I hadn’t tried before with their “Bite me” sauce. Those were unexpectedly good as well.

If you want to try my favorite cheesesteak in Kuwait, they’re available on Talabat, Deliveroo, Jahez and Cari. They also offer V-Thru pick up from their location in Hawally. Check them out @eatatbiteclub

Heat, Eat, Repeat

Sealed is a new Kuwaiti dessert brand that specializes in molten cakes. When they sent the desserts over, the first thing that caught my attention was the ridiculously cool packaging. The desserts all arrived inside silver metallic boxes that were sealed in silver pouches that mimic air freight. The whole look fit right into my space, which has concrete floors and silver aluminum furniture. It’s a very futuristic look.

Once you open the boxes, the molten cakes are packed inside sealed containers with detailed instructions on how to heat them up. Sealed offers three main items:

Chocolate Molten
Cookie Molten
Chocolate Chip Cookies

The molten cakes come in two sizes: large and small. Instead of just writing “Chocolate” or “Cookie Molten” on the packaging, they use hand signs, which is a fun touch. The peace sign (✌🏻) is for the Original Molten, while the shaka sign (🤙🏻) is for the Cookie Molten.

I tried the desserts and they were actually really good, with the Chocolate Molten being my favorite. One of the boxes they sent over had a dozen small molten cakes in it, and I took them to family lunch yesterday—it was a hit. Heating up the cakes is super easy: you just unseal the packaging and then pop it into the microwave for 60 seconds. Really convenient.

Because of how cool the packaging looks and how good the molten cakes were, it’s going to be one of my new favorite desserts to take to gatherings. If you want to place an order, Sealed are available on delivery platforms like @jahezkuwait.
