Chili’s Too (the mini version of the Chili’s restaurant) is opening in Salhiya right behind Fauchon. They have another branch further down the street at Discovery Mall so I wonder if that one will close once this one opens up.

Just heard that Virgin Megastore is going to be closing down by end of January. I’m not sure if they’re reopening somewhere else but their closure definitely isn’t a surprise. Their book collection is small, their music section is smaller and their movie section practically non existent. Still, it would be sad to see it go.

Update: Projekt Cyan just got me more information regarding the closure of Virgin. Firstly they won’t be relocating, they’re shutting down their Kuwait operation for good. Secondly, they’re also closing down the Moa, Pre Natal and Piazza Itala stores, all of which are located adjacent to Virgin. They’re instead going to group the 4 store spaces together and open up Decathlon which is a huge French sports equipment store.

People, when you stop seeing water and just see bread, thats when you should get the hint and stop trying to feed the fish. They don’t want your food, they would rather be swimming in clean clear water.

KFC in Kentucky broke the world record for the largest sized serving of fried chicken. Previously the record was held by Kuwait. [Link]

According to this article on Al Watan it looks like tints might be legalized. 30% tints would be allowed on all cars and all windows except for the front windshield.

I hope this happens since I love tints and I heart Huper Optik. I can’t imagine driving in the summer without a car tint anymore since a good tint makes HUGE difference. [Link]

According to a reader Go Sport at Avenues are now selling MMA gear. They’re currently carrying two brands which are Venum and Bad boy. Personally, I’m still holding out for a store that carries TapOut and Affliction gear.

This is a cool little store that’s located on M1 in Salhiya Complex. It’s the outlet shop for all the Tanagra brands like Tumi, Orla Kiely, Lacoste and more. The problem is the majority of the time the items available aren’t that great but every now and then you might find something that’s a steal.

Architecture of Kuwait announced yesterday they will be tracing over old photos and turning them into 3D in order to visualize moments of that era. I think that’s a fantastic idea and one I’m looking forward to see. Not sure how far back in time they’re going but I’m guessing somewhere in the 50s and 60s. Arabian Business just released their 2011 Rich List featuring the wealthiest Arab men and women in the world. Kuwait came in 6th and 7th in their Top 10 list with Al Kharafi family being the 6th and Bukhamseen family the 7th. For the full report click [Here]

As promised I’ve got more information on the comedy club that’s opening up in Kuwait. The comedy club called “Live” will open and ready on January 4th in the basement of Discovery Mall. For the opening, Ronnie Khalil the popular Arab American comedian from Miami will fly in for 5 days of stand up comedy. There will also be Local comedians on tap for each evening.

Timings
January 4th, 7th and 8th: 7:30pm to 9:00pm
January 5th and 6th: 6:30pm to 8:00pm and 9:00pm to 10:30pm

Is it just me or does KD70,000 for a purse sound a bit on the expensive side?

The El Derwaza blog has a page with a whole bunch of Kuwait’s Guinness World Records. It’s missing a few but their were two or three I wasn’t aware of before. And yes that’s a picture of a box full of Krispy Kreme glazed donuts. Kinda wish I could dive into it. [Link]

I can’t believe how time flew by so quickly this year. I still haven’t finished editing the pictures from last years Gulf Run and now GR7 is coming up next month. Tonight they had a small get together to introduce what’s new and different in this years Gulf Run. I’m not going to be able to join the guys in Bahrain this year but, I’ll still be covering all the events leading up to Bahrain and maybe even find a way to to cover Bahrain as well.
