2:48AM - Entertaining Kuwait since 2003

I have been using Moleskines ever since I first saw one with Nibaq. I usually buy the plain pocket sized notebook and its actually the only version I have ever bought since I never needed anything else until I saw the Moleskine City notebook. The Moleskine City notebook is made for travelling and they come in various city editions. I want the Montreal and New York editions but they don’t come out till 2007 so for now I am probably going to order the Amsterdam one. I think these notebooks would be cooler if shared amongst friends. So I could travel to Amsterdam, mark my notes down and then pass the notebook to my friend when he travels to Amsterdam. That way he could get some tips from me and then fill in his own notes. It could be really useful. [Link]

Today Geo learned a new trick.. a trick I would rather he hadn’t learned. Geo today figured out how to open the doors around the house. The whole house is dog safe (ie nothing for Geo to grab a hold of and chew) except for the art room where I have all my magazines and tons of other stuff lying around unprotected on the shelves. Now that he knows how to open the door I need to start locking it from the outside. Hopefully he won’t figure out how to pick locks anytime soon. I think this weekend I am going to shoot a video of Geo doing some tricks, he has gotten really good at them.

Here is a full list of how all the TV shows ranked this season. I have no fucking clue how LOST is in 14th place while 24 is in 23rd place and Prison Break in 55th. Season 2 of lost was the most boring show on television filled with nothing that made season 1 (and early season 2) exciting to watch. Sure they fixed it with the season finale but thats too little too late. [Link]

For the past 2 days I have been having issues connecting to mark248am1.wpenginepowered.com and some other sites like adobe.com with my Qualitynet connection. Is anyone else having this problem? Its connecting but after a really long period..

Yesterday night I went to the bakala (local word for very tiny mini markets) under my building to get KDD Silver icecream. To my surprise the guy didn’t have any left, just the Gold one. So I went to the second bakala near by and he also didn’t have Silver. Luckily there are like 20 bakalas in a 5 meter radius behind my building (I love Salmiya) so I went bakala jumping trying to find one that still had Silver left. Luckily I found a box full at the 4th bakala and decided to buy it all and take home. Don’t know if this is a problem around Kuwait or just in my street but maybe the country is running out of Silver??

I passed by zMacShop yesterday to get a foofpod for Nat. They have a pretty nice selection of foofs in various colors for the regular ipods and the nanos. While there I also noticed they also had Booq and STM brand of laptop sleeves if anyone is interested.

Back in February of last year I published a post titled “Mac & Small” and in it I talked about how small their branch at Galleria 2000 was and how over priced their items were. Well yesterday I passed by Mac & More’s new branch in Marina Mall and I have to say they are no longer small. The place looks really cool and huge.. and thats the only positive thing I can say. It seems when they moved from Mac & Small to Marina Mall they didn’t get any new merchandise. The place is empty and I mean empty. When you first walk in there is one MacBook Pro on display and one MacMini connected to a generic brand of LCD screen.. imagine not even an Apple Display! Once you walk into the rest of the shop you will realize that was it, no more Apple products.. the rest of the store is just a large shelf full of iPods and a wall full of generic iPod skins which you can find at any other Mac store in Kuwait including Mac City which is located in Virgin at the other end of Marina Mall. Even the tiny zMacShop have brands like Marware and Foof how come Mac & More don’t have anything cool?

Price wise… Mac & More is the most expensive Apple dealer in Kuwait.

The store is visually very impressive which misleads you to believe you will find many great things there, but once you go in and look around and can’t find anything, you wonder what the hell are these guys selling… iPod covers?

update: If I was to review the store again now I would have to say they have improved things a lot. Firstly they have a lot more products and a lot more brands, their prices have also decreased, maybe not as cheap as US prices but they are closer to UAE prices. I would probably give them a 3.5 out of 5 now.
