I spent most of Friday morning installing emulators and game roms on my Xbox. On my Dreamcast I had a ton of emulator CDs and games including over 1600 Sega Genesis games. So, I spent the morning copying all the Roms off the Dreamcast CD onto my Xbox, then I downloaded some Xbox emulators from #xbins on Efnet and installed those also. Now I can play tons of games that were made for the Genesis, 32X, SNES, Coleco or MSX on my Xbox. They also all run extremely well with no slowdown what-so-ever. Next step is to get some NeoGeo roms and a NeoGeo emulator for the Xbox.

Million Dollar Baby
I watched a Million Dollar Baby last night. It was a really good movie but if I had known the ending was going to be so sad I wouldn’t have watched it. I also understand now why people were saying the title of the movie was so terrible. I also got to watch LA Confidential yesterday. I had watched it when it first came out as a cinema copy video and I remember getting bored half way and turning it off. Yesterday I watched it all over again and I liked it a lot. The coolest part was that the mob boss Mickey was played by Paul Guilfoyle, the police captain on CSI. Speaking of which, the first episode of CSI NY will be on August 22nd on TV Land.
Since our agency is not allowed to have pirated software and since we recently cleaned up and deleted our pirated software, the whole creativity department was left without a copy of Microsoft Office. So, I have taken it upon myself to hook everyone up with NeoOffice. NeoOffice is based on OpenOffice, which is both a multi-platform and multi-lingual office suite and an open-source project. Compatible with all other major office suites, the product is free to download, use, and distribute. This means this free software will allow us to open and save word documents without having to pay a gazillion dollars in licensing fees. My department aren’t heavy Office users anyway so this will be more then enough. [Link]
I just read this article below and I think its ridiculous, how could David Beckham not have the rights to a tattoo located on his own body??
—————–
David Beckham is facing a legal battle over who owns the right to his tattoos, because body artist Louis Malloy fears the British soccer star is making money from his designs.
Malloy designed and inked nine of Beckham’s tattoos, including the famous guardian angel on his upper back, and is determined to sue should the Real Madrid ace use the images in an advertising campaign.
The 42-year-old claims Beckham, who is married to ex-Spice Girl Victoria Beckham, tried to force him to sign a confidentiality agreement, but he refused.
Malloy says, “I was contacted recently and told they wanted to use some of them in a campaign. I said we’d have to draw up a license agreement but then it got too complicated. So I said, ‘I own the copyright, they are my intellectual property, I drew them, I didn’t copy them from other sources.’
“They still think they’re the owners of the images but if they use them without my permission I’d sue. There’s no doubt about it.” [Source]

This is the picture of the fake Hungry Bunny that I spoke about a few days ago thats opening on the 4th ring road. As you can see, although they are using a similar typeface and color scheme as the official Hungry Bunny, the main visual of the bunny rabbit is different.
No Free Subs

It’s official now here in Kuwait also. No more Sub Club, no more stamps. When I asked the guy why they stopped them he told me because some kids in the States made copies and sold them on eBay. I was surprised to know the guy knew the full story. Now I have a whole bunch of Subway cards that are full and I can’t use them. SUCKS!
Best Buy Kuwait

I was just flipping through Bayt.com to see if I could find anything interesting and I did. Seems Best Buy is opening or someone copied their logo. Check this.
Update: Nevermind, turns out someone copied the logo and name..
The End of the Sub Club

Subway is ending its long-running Sub Club promotion due to the prevalence of counterfeit stamps. With every sub you buy at Subway they give you stamps. Every 8 stamps gets you a free 6inch sub. Due to increasing counterfeiting Subway has decided to stop the Sub Club promotion. Checking ebay you can find over 200 auctions for Subway Club cards! So starting June 30th, your Sub Club will be useless, so use them now. [Link]
American PSP to Japanese PSP
We have 2 PSP’s at the office, a Japanese version and an American version. We have 2 copies of Need for Speed, a Jap version and a US version. The problem is we can’t get the two systems to connect for a head to head race! Wtf?! I thought we would be able to do this even though we have two PSP’s from different regions.
Hidden Screen

I was watching Everybody Loves Raymond on my Tivo when a black screen with copy on it came on for a micro second and disappeared. So I paused the tivo and went back frame by frame to the black screen. I then took a picture of it and though I would share it with you. I love finding stuff like this.

Busting Pirates on TV
Someone in the office just told me that they recently have been busting in on pirates in Hawalli and they are broadcasting the busts live on TV. COPS style. Anyone know anything about this or seen it?
Ok, I just installed Tiger on my Mac at work and I am fucked. One of the most important softwares I have called Extensis Suitcase is not yet compatible with Tiger. This means that I am stuck with default fonts in softwares like Illustrator and Photoshop. Now I need to figure out how to go back to Panther… THIS SUCKS!
Update: Ok this is what I did to kinda solve my problem for now. I copied the fonts I need the most to Library>Application Support>Adobe>Fonts. Now my fonts work with my Adobe Products. I will keep checking the Extensis Suitcase Tiger Compatibility Chart everyday till they fix it.

I preordered 2 copies of the NIN new album With Teeth, limited edition dual disc version before they went out of stock on Amazon.
Crackdown Advocate
In reply to the previous post titled “Crackdown in Wonderland“, a regular reader Fadibou commented saying the following:
Hi Mark and all of you. I work in a software company here in Kuwait and its frustrating to see people supporting Piracy. Piracy is a nice word for stealing. Copying software and selling it without permission and without giving money back to its creator is pure theft. As for the crack down, it will increase and hopefully soon there will be no place to buy pirated(stolen) games and software. As for your remarks that a lot of games are not worth buying, well try getting evaluation copies or demos. They should cover your investment before you buy. As for Rihab, Can you please tell me which shop did help you get Doom 3?
Doom 3? I don’t know what you are talking about.. (starts whistling casually)..
