From the Arab Times: A security source disclosed an Arab girl who is seen in a clip wearing police uniform is outside the country. A security source said contacts have been established with concerned authorities in her home country to arrest her, reports Al-Rai Al-Aam daily. Earlier it was reported the picture was circulated among phones users with the Bluetooth technology and the policeman who allegedly allowed the girl to wear his uniform is in police custody, said a source who refused to give his name. Police have also arrested the policeman’s friend for taking part in the crime. The same source said the girl was in an apartment hired by a policeman contrary to earlier reports which said the suspect was a police officer. The source added the rank on the uniform was a forgery.

And I thought models in Kuwait were underpaid. Dancer Mandy Coulton became famous as one of the dancers from the colorful iPod ads but Mandy herself can’t afford her own iPod. She was paid $1,500 for her three-hours work on the campaign and finds $400 for an iPod too much to pay. “I can’t justify spending that much money when I have day-to-day stuff to pay for like the car and rent.” She works as a nanny part-time while she waits for her dancing career to take-off. I am FOR the war in Iraq ofcourse since I live in Kuwait and Iraq with Saddam was posing a threat to me. But today I read something very interesting by Michael Scheuer which made a lot of sense. He was giving an interview on the TV show Hardball when the reporter asked him if the war on Iraq was a good decision, his reply made a lot of sense and it makes me wonder if the US administration knew this would happen. If they were then what is so important about Iraq that made them take such a risk. This is the full transcript.

O‘DONNELL: And, finally, the president has made the case that winning the war in Iraq is central to winning the war on terror and making sure that Osama bin Laden and al Qaeda cannot take—harm the United States. Is that true, if we win there, will that help?

SCHEUER: No, ma‘am. The war in Iraq has broken the back of our counterterrorism effort. I‘m not an expert on the threat posed by Saddam Hussein, but the invasion of Iraq has made sure this war will last decades ahead and it has transferred bin Laden and al Qaeda from being man and an organization into being a philosophy and a movement. We‘ve really made sure that the war against us is going to be a long and very bloody one. Iraq was an absolutely disastrous decision.

Audi finally released official pictures of its new SUV the Q7. From the pictures though it looks like an over sized station wagon, not very pretty. [Link]

Gus Van Sant, the director behind great movies like Elephant and Good Will Hunting just released a new movie last month called Last Days. The movie is loosely based on the last days of Nirvana’s lead singer Kurt Cobain who died in 1994. Michael Pitt who plays the lead role in the movie as a musician named Blake looks like Kurt Cobain, dresses like him and dies like him at the end of the movie. I can’t wait to watch this movie since I love Nirvana and it was a really shock to me when Kurt Cobain died. I was in Montreal when it happened and I remember the music channel there, Much Music played Nirvana songs all day long.

Chaos erupted this morning at the Richmond International Raceway as thousands of people stampeded through the gates in a rush to buy iBook laptop computers for $50 each.

Several people were injured as others trampled them outside a warehouse where the 4-year-old Apple laptops were being sold. None of the injuries appeared to be serious.

Thousands of Henrico County residents waited in a long line as dawn broke; many had come prepared with books, snacks, umbrellas and chairs. The first car arrived at 1:30 a.m. By 6:30 vehicles were backed up on Laburnum Avenue about a half mile to Carolina Avenue.

Even before the gates opened, the atmosphere turned surly, with people yelling at police officers who were trying to keep the crowd civil.

Tivo-Guy unlike us regular geeks is a Super Geek who can turn a kitchen blender into a computer if he wanted to. So I decided to share a link on how to setup OSX to work on your PC in a language us regular geeks can understand. [Link]

Last week I posted a link to a new service called Pandora which can help you discover new music by telling it what artists or songs you like. I got my invite to the service today and the first thing I did was tell it I liked “Kid Loco”. Within a few seconds they introduced me to a song I had never heard of before, Afro Halo by Magic Arrows. The song was really fucking cool and it really is similar in style and sound to Kid Loco. When the song was done it gave me another cool song by another musician and when that was done another. Non stop music all similar in style and sound to Kid Loco.

If you are in the process of buying a Mac now put your purchase on hold. Why? Apple has a habit of introducing new products or upgrades during one it large events which are held throughout the year. Steve Jobs usually starts these events with his famous keynotes and then introduces the new products. Next month is the Apple Expo in Paris in which the new iMac G5 was introduced last year. During these expos it is expected that Apple would introduce new hardware and software products, or at least some hardware and software updates. I personally don’t have any movies I want to share with people but it is interesting to watch other peoples videos. For example I just watched one guy do a pretty good Napoleon Dynamite impersonation and now I am going to look for some amatuer porn videos. [Link]
