I am not a huge fan of Romain Jerome watches since their style isn’t to my liking but I do like the concept of their DNA series. The ones pictured above are part of the Romain Jerome Titanic DNA collection in which they’ve used steel from the actual Titanic wreck fused with steel from the shipyard in Belfast where the ship was built nearly a hundred years ago to create the rusted watch bezel. You’re literally wearing a part of history on your wrist. They have other DNA collections like the moon dust series in which the watch dial contains mineral dust from the moon while the steel contains fragments from the Apollo XI spacecraft. They even have a Eyjafjallajokull Volcano DNA watch!
Anyway while I was walking through Salhiya on my way to Leila for lunch I spotted the Titanic DNA series in the display window of a shop called Ghaddah in front of LV. I had only seen them in pictures before so it was cool seeing them live. I went in and asked their starting price and if anyone is interested they start at KD3,800 which isn’t too bad considering. Turns out Ghaddah is also the dealer for Richard Mille, now those are watches I really like…

Cinemagic Kuwait, is organizing these events as part of its efforts to contribute to the development of an internationally competitive Kuwaiti audio-visual production industry, partly by bringing the filmmakers and audiences together and by Increasing the public’s interest in – and appreciation for – the art of film-making. Cinemagic movies are screened in the old Salmiya, on the roof on top of Alghanim Electronics and LG. There is a KD1 charge for the venue fees which includes refreshments, popcorn and much more. Here is a link to their Facebook group [Link]
Spotted this new restaurant that’s opening up at the Avenues called Carluccio’s. I haven’t heard of it before but it seems to be a UK franchise that’s also available in Dubai.
Looks like Victoria Secret is finally opening a proper shop in Kuwait. The picture above was taken at Marina Mall next to Mac Cosmetics.
Note: No mention of lingerie on the hoarding so could be just their beauty products which would make sense since the space there isn’t that big
As part of Cinemagic’s efforts to contribute to the development of an internationally competitive Kuwaiti audio-visual production industry, We’re also proud to take part in spreading awareness of environmental issues and help making kuwait and the world a better place.
The Green Caravan is not only the first film festival of its kind in Kuwait, it is also one of a small handful of film festivals worldwide dedicated entirely to environmental issues.
The Green Caravan Film Festival is back for its second season with more films, a larger audience and a greater variety of venues to enjoy. And Cinemagic is one of these Venues.
This years festival shines a light upon the fisheries crisis, waste pollution and energy alternatives.

Life with Cacao is a chocolate café thats located at the 360 Mall and Nat has been working on their branding for awhile now. Just a few days ago she finished working with a very cool illustrator on some funky iPhone and Blackberry wallpapers for Life with Cacao which I found very cute and worth sharing on the blog.
There are a total of ten wallpapers that come in four different sizes to fit the various devices. You can download them all in one zip file by clicking [Here]
Update: They’re now all available on Flickr [Here]

For some reason the past two weeks I’ve been obsessed with Casio G-Shocks. I’ve already posted a ton of pictures in my twitter account and I’ve even posted about them on my other blog 248PM. I’m a huge fan of watches but I’m always worried about them getting scratched, lost or stolen so when I started checking out the G-Shocks it was like this is a watch I can get and not have to worry about.
There were a few different models I liked, I first liked the G-5500 special editions which came in two colors (pictured above), a bright yellow representing Tokyo and a gark gray one representing New York City. I then saw the GA-100 (pictured below) and loved how dark and evil it looked. Finally I saw and read about the GX56 (pictured on top of post and the very end) and knew right away that was the watch for me.
The GX56 is Casio’s largest G-Shock ever made. It not only huge but it’s also super tough and I personally think looks really great. It comes in three colors but the Casio dealer in Kuwait gets them in just one color which is the one in the picture above. I ended up getting that and so far I’m loving it. Price wise it’s not cheap since it costs KD50 which is on the expensive side of the Casio spectrum. The GA-100 is for KD35 while the G-5500 special editions are for KD40 each.
The Casio dealer is pretty decent, their prices are slightly more expensive than Amazon but when you add shipping costs and tax it turns out to be exactly the same as Kuwait. The branch I kept passing by was the one behind Souk Al Kabeer in Kuwait City. All the models I posted above are available at their Kuwait City branch. Their phone number is 22458727.
KUWAIT: The national holiday celebrations next year will be completely foamless, reported Al-Qabas. The Environmental Public Authority (EPA) recently announced that an agreement was reached to ban the use or import of foam sprays in the country. The move is an attempt to control the chaotic use of the substance that has experienced an increase in popularity these past few years. “The EPA has reached an agreement with the Interior Ministry, the Kuwait Municipality and the Ministry of Health to ban the substance for being a serious health risk,” said the Director of the Industrial Environment Department at the EPA, Mohammad Al-Enizy. The substance has been accused of causing allergic reactions to the eyes and skin in addition to containing carcinogen material. “A detailed report was sent to the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to stop importing or selling foam sprays in the country,” Al-Enizy added. This was in the papers a few days ago, not sure how I missed it. I guess I am now looking forward to national holiday celebrations.
Thanks Mike
Very nicely done. [YouTube]
Fahad just started his own health and fitness blog! For those of you who don’t know who he is, Fahad is the owner of the Core Fitness gym and is a guest writer on this blog. You can check some of his previous health related posts [Here]. According to his new blogs “about” page this is what he will be posting:
Essentially, anything associated with health and fitness is trying to be Fahad. As such, this blog will hopefully offer the latest and updated news on the world of health and fitness, including bodybuilding, sports performance, nutrition and achieving overall well-being. You’ll also witness all my trials and tribulations (some might fail, and some might succeed) in achieving maximum potential both physically and mentally.
I’ll be documenting my meals, workouts and dietary supplements. As an avid health-seeker, I’ll also be roaming around the streets of Kuwait reviewing what products, foods, restaurants, drinks, etc are worth your hard-earned (or not so hard-earned) cash.
So check out his new blog and don’t forget to bookmark it. [Link]
