I just realized that it’s Camel Race season. The races usually take place every Saturday from October to March so if you haven’t been to one before it could be something new and fun to do, plus it’s free. There are also a bunch of other things happening this weekend so check out the list below:

The GIG Battle Fitness Festival which is taking place at the Green Island is always worth going to and attracts a lot of international competitors. The Drive-In movies at Bnaider also sounds fun but, if you haven’t gotten tickets yet to the Staged in Kuwait Pantomime, there are still a few available so don’t miss out on that. Last week while visiting AAB World in Symphony Mall, I passed by a place called the Q8 Comedy Club. I hadn’t noticed it before so I quickly checked Instagram to see if I could find out more about it and I ended up at their Instagram account. Turns out they were holding comedy shows at this location and the next one was scheduled for December 6th so I booked two tickets so I could check it out.

I ended up going last night and I left pretty impressed. The show was a combination of improv and standup, with the majority of it being improv. The host was Ahmad Alshammari from Shenoya3ni and was extremely funny, but so were the rest of the comedians, everyone was pretty great especially when you consider that fact we don’t even have a comedy scene in Kuwait.

The show started 7:30PM and finished around 9PM. The place was packed and although the audience weren’t the participating type, the comedians still managed to work with what they had and do really well. My Arabic isn’t that great and I was cracking up with my friend through the whole thing. Strangely, the tickets were free, probably because they’re trying to promote the comedy club and get people to come to a show which is a new idea here.

The Kuwait Motor Show starts today and will be taking place at The Avenues. There is also the Gulf Marathon taking place on Saturday and if you’re looking for a new place to ride your bicycle, the Kuwait Motor Town race track will be open to cyclists this Saturday as well. Staged in Kuwait are starting their 10th season with a traditional British Pantomime, Dick Whittington. This will be their post-pandemic return and the production will take place at The Backstage Theatre in Jabriya.

The panto takes place December 9th to 11th and tickets start at just 7.5 KD. For more information and to book, click here.

ARC Studio in collaboration with Soroptimist Kuwait are hosting a 3-day self-defense course for women.

Soroptimist works to educate, empower, and enable women. They have also been working to eliminate violence against women and girls. This self-defense course is complimentary and will take place on November 18, 19, and 20th.

The Saracen Race is an obstacle race consisting of a 5KM run with a combination of various obstacles like monkey bars and climbing walls. This year’s Saracen Race is going to be held on December 10th and take place on Green Island.

Claudia Al Rashoud has been documenting Kuwait since 1979 when she became the first professional female photojournalist at the Arab Times newspaper. Tomorrow (Wednesday) she is holding a seminar titled ‘Forty-two Years of Documenting Kuwait’ which is open to the public. Claudia will be talking about how her photographic work and how it began in the chaotic conditions of a newspaper darkroom as well as other subjects like why Kuwait’s desert environment and animal welfare are among her major areas of concern.

Movember in Motion is taking place today at the Volvo Studio in Khaleejiya Complex. It’s a men’s health awareness event and will include food by Swedish Eatery, music by DjFARI, talks on mental health and prostate cancer by two doctors and even a shaving booth.

5:30 PM to 9:00 PM and here is the location on Google Maps.

A bunch of interesting events happening this weekend. Murouj was meant to also have a market this weekend but they had to postpone. I personally signed up for the classic car open track on Saturday although not sure how much actual racing I’ll be doing in my Alfa. The Palestinian Culture Center has been operating in Kuwait since the early 1970s. Every year they hold an exhibition with the aim to support needy families as well as preserving the rich and vibrant culture of Palestine. Starting tomorrow and going on till Thursday, the center will be holding an exhibit at Dar Al Funoon.

The exhibit will have hand-stitched dresses, shawls, and cushions for sale, as well as handmade ceramics, books, and food aimed to preserve the Palestinian national identity and showcase how it adapts to modern times.
